3 Theodore ,5. Sav/voeder Patented June 26, 1934 UNITED STATES PATENT OFF-ICE to Central Advertising Company,
Jackson,
Mich., a corporation of Michigan Application January 18,
7 Claims,
This invention relates to display boards and more particularly to a holder for removably holding a plurality of elongated cards having printed thereon the names and prices of salable articles.
'5 It is an object of this invention to provide a display board of rugged construction for removable cards made up of a series of channel strips secured to a frame.
Another object of this invention is to provide 10 a display board of sheet metal, card guiding and holding strips spot welded to a metal frame.
These and other objects will be apparent from the following specification when taken with the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. l is a front elevation of the display board,
Fig. 2 is an enlarged partial front elevation showing the details of the invention,
Fig. 3 is a section on the line III- III of Fig. 1, and
Fig. 4 is a section on the line IV-IV of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawing, the frame is made up of three metallic strips 1, 2 and 3. Strip 3 has an L-section with a forwardly standing leg 4. A plurality of channel sheet metal card holders 5 are spot welded or otherwise secured to the frame as at 6. Each of the card holders 5 has cut from one end thereof a recess 7. The card holders 5 are disposed adjacent to each other and abut against the upstanding leg 4 of the frame strip 3.
The display board may be constructed in sections for bolting or riveting to each other in order that a board of the desired length may be built up. For this purpose the outside frame members 1 and 3 are provided at their tops with drilled 35 Lholes 8 and 9, respectively. The same frame members are provided at their bottoms with drilled holes and 1l, respectively. The holes 10 and 11 extend through the bottom holder 5.
As shown, particularly in Fig. 4, in dotted lines,
40 an additional section having a frame bar 3 and upper hole 8 may be bolted to the bottom of the first section by bolts l2. The top of the outside frame strips is offset as shown at 13 in Fig. 4, to maintain the card holders 5 in vertical alignment. The holes 8 and 9 at the top of a complete board built up of sections may be used for hanging the board.
Cards 14 made of pasteboard, metal, or the like, and printed as desired, may be readily inserted 0 jin the individual holders 5, their movement to the left being limited by the upstanding leg 4.
When it is desired to remove a card it may be gripped at its right end between the thumb and forenger, the recess 7 facilitating such gripping,
55 and may be readily withdrawn.
1934, `Serial No. -7 07,070
While the above specification describes only a single modification, it is within the contemplation of this invention that other equivalent constructions may be used and it is not desired that I be limited except by the scope of the following claims.
I claim:
1. In a display board, the combination of a frame comprising a plurality of members, a plurality of card holding means arranged in parallel 65 relationship, secured to said frame, means on one of said frame members defining a closure for said card holding means and means adapting said frame for connection to another frame of like construction, said means including an offset portion on one of said frame members and a portion thereof dening a hole therethrough.
2. In a display board, the combination of a frame, a plurality of individual channel card holders aixed thereto and means adapting said frame for connection to another frame of like construction, said means including an offset portion on a part of said frame and a portion thereof deiining a hole therethrough.
3. A rigid self-sustained display board unit 8:0 adapted to be connected to a similar unit to provide an extended unbroken display structure yet being complete in itself, comp-rising spaced rigid vertical metal frame members, horizontal adjacently arranged sheet metal channel shaped card 8'5 holders having the webs thereof imposed upon said members and secured thereto to provide a generally rectangular rigid structure, one end of said holders being open to permit insertion of display cards, means closing the other end of said holders to constitute a stop for the display cards, and means at the top and bottom of said unit adapting the same for connection to similar units.
4. A rigid self-sustained display board unit 05 adapted to be connected to a similar unit to provide an extended unbroken display structure yet being complete in itself, comprising spaced rigid vertical metal frame members, horizontal adjacently arranged sheet metal channel shaped card holders having the webs thereof imposed upon said members and secured thereto to provide a generally rectangular rigid structure, and means at the top and bottom of said unit adapting the same for connection to similar units.
5. A rigid self-sustained display boardunit adapted to be connected to similar units to provide an extended unbroken display structure yet being complete in itself, comprising vertically disposed rigid metal frame members, horizontal ad- 10 jacently arranged sheet metal channel shaped card holders having the webs thereof imposed upon said members and secured thereto to provide a generally rectangular rigid structure, the end of said holders at one side of said structure being open to permit insertion of cards, one of said frame members being of L-section and embracing the opposite ends of said holders along the opposite side of said structure to constitute stops for the cards, and means at the top and bottom of said unit adapting the same for connection to similar units.
6. A rigid self-sustained display board unit adapted to be connected to a similar unit to provide an extended unbroken display structure yet being complete in itself, comprising spaced vertically arranged rigid metal frame members, horizontal adjacently arranged sheet metal channel shaped card holders having the Webs thereof imposed upon said members and secured thereto to provide a generally rectangular rigid structure, certain of said frame members being disposed adjacent the vertical sides of said structure and extending beyond said holders to provide an attachment portion adapting the unit for connection to a similar unit.
7. In display boards, the combination of a frame comprising a plurality of members, a plurality of card holding means arranged in parallel relationship secured to said frame, means on one of said members defining a closure for said card holding means and means adapting said frame for connection to another frame of like structure, said last means including an attachment portion upon one of said frame members and a portion defining a hole therethrough.
