My invention relates broadly to smoking appliances and more particularlyto a mouthpiece or tip for cigarettes.

One of the objects of my invention is to pro- 5 vide .a construction of tip for cigarettes which will permit the enjoyment of smoking without the adverse efiects or staining the mouth orv teeth g or the removal of cosmetics from the lips.

Another object of my invention is to provide a construction of tip for cigarettes-by which a support may be provided for the drawing end of the cigarette to enable the cigarette to be rested upon a supporting surface from time to time intermediate the smoking intervals.

A further object'of my invention is to provide a construction of tip for cigarettes which may be employed as a holder for various brands of cigarettes for avoiding finger stain and provid ing means whereby the cigarette may be held between the teeth and out of moisture absorbin contact with the lips.

A still further object of my invention is to provide a construction of metallic tip for supporting a cigarette in which a substantially Venturi shape is imparted to the tubular member forming the cigarettetipior permitting ready in sertion or removal of the cigarette from the tip.

Other and further objects of my invention reside in the construction of sanitary cigarette holder adapted to reduce the effects of nicotine as set forth more fully-in the specification hereinafter following by reference to the accompanying drawing. in which: l

My invention is directed to a construction of tip for cigarettes which may be manufactured inexpensivelv on a quantity production basis and which may carry advertising matter thereon and adapted to be distributed as an advertising novelty. The cigarette tip may also be formed from metallic metal plated with gold, platinum. or other metals to'avoid tarnishing or any adverse effects on the mouth or teeth. The tip is substanti lly in the shape of aVenturi tube having its sm est diameter .intermediate its ends and .flaring outwardly at opposite ends. The diameter of the tip at its smallest cross-section is" approximately of an inch or of a size to snugly receive the end of the cigarette. The length of the cigarette tip is relatively short, that is, approximately of an inch so the tip may be held between the teeth and the lips protected from 76 contact with the end of the cigarette which may become moistened.

, Referring to the drawing in detail, reference character 1 designates a cigarette inserted in the tubular tip 2 of my invention. The tubular tip 2 it? has a Venturi shape with a minimum diameter at its central portion 3 flaring outwardly to a maximum diameter at the end 4 and at the end 5. The flared end 5 permits insertion of the cigarette 1 which is snugly confined in the portion of minimum diameter 3. The flaring end a may then be tightly held between the teeth or between the lips. Any type of cigarette may be em-'- ployed, that is, the usual type of cigarette or a cigarette having a cork tip. The outwardly flared end 4 may serve as a support for the cigarette as illustrated in Fig. 5 enabling the cigarette. to stand vertically on a supporting table top such as illustrated at 6 in Fig. 5. The lighted cigarette may, in this way, be supported intermediate the smoking intervals.

Fig. 6 shows a modified form of cigarette tip constructed according to my invention and in which a ring member '7 is secured directly to the tip 2 to enable the tip to be held by a finger as represented in Fig. 8. i

The Venturi shaped tip may have the outside area thereof providedwith ornamentation or advertising, the surface of the tip being such that a minimum amount .of cosmetic is removed from the lips and maximum protectionis afiorded to the smoker.

While I have described my invention in one of its preferred embodiments, I desire that it be understood that modifications may be made and that no limitations upon my invention are intended other than are imposed by the scope of the appended claim.

What I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is as follows: no

member, and a finger engaging ring disposed beneath the front'end portion of the tubular member, said ring being disposed at right angles to the tubular member and having its upper portion firmly united to the tubular member at the front end thereof, said ring being spaced from the rear end of the tubular member and serving as an abutment to engage a persons lower lip when the rear end portion of the tubular member is placedin a persons mouth during smoking.
