'wheel against a part of the lug while the nut B is 1 Claim.
This invention relates to a wrench, the general object of the invention being to provide a wrench for use on lug nuts of dual truck wheels.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combinationand arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:
Figure l is an elevation with parts in section of the improved wrench.
Figure 2 is a view of the front end of the wrench.
Figure 3 is a sectional view through the wrench and showing the same in use.
Figure 4 is a view of the rear end of the wrench.
In this drawing, the numeral 1 indicates an elongated cylinder which is formed with a handle 2 at one end thereof and with a thickened part 3 at the other end, the interior part of which is shaped to engage a nut, this interior part being of any suitable non-circular shape, as shown. at 4 in Figure 4. An elongated member 5 is formed with the enlarged end parts 6 and 7 which rotatably and slidably support the member 5 in the cylinder 1 and the part 7 is formed with a .nut receiving socket 8 and with the tongues or projections 9 which extend from the end of the part '7 and each tongue or projection has a flat inner side and an arcuate outer side, as shown in Figure 4. The part 6 is formed with an eye 10 for receiving a bar or the like which is used for turning the member 5. v
As shown in Figure 3, this device is adapted to remove the lug nuts A and B or to tighten such nuts, of the lugs of a dual wheel. The nut A is a socketed nut for fitting over the threaded end of 8. lug and acts to hold a part of the inner threaded on the nut A and holds a part of the outer wheel in position. In using the device, it is passed through the outer wheel and the socket 8 is engaged with lug nut A and socket 4 formed by the part 3 is engaged with the nut 18. Then a bar is passed through the eye 10 and a piece of pipe slipped over the handle 2 and 'then by holding one part stationary and turning the other part, either nut may be tightened or loosened. By providing the tongues or projections 9, the nutB can be completely cleared from the nut A before the socket 8 releases its hold on the nut A.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be. understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What is claimed is:-
A wrench of the class described comprising an outerelongated tubular member having a nut receiving socket in one end thereof, a handle connected with the other end, an inner elongated member having enlargements at its ends for rotatably and slidably contacting interior portions of the outer member, an eye forming part at the outer end of the inner member and the other end of said inner member having a nut receiving socket therein, and projections on saidv last mentioned end of the inner member, each projection having its inner face forming a continuation of a portion'of the wall of the socket of said inner member and its outer face of arcuate shape to fit in a portion ofthe nut engaged by the socket of the outer member, said outer faces of the projections being spaced inwardly from the side walls of the socketed enlargement of the inner member to form a space for receiving the outer end of the nut engaged by the socket of the outer member.
