Fig. 1 is a perspective View of a m station tele- Fig. 4, serves to reinforce and add rigidity to the ph n k according t hi nv n n shown angle plate construction. The side plate 12 and schematically applied upon a telephone. the side arm of the angle plate 16 are formed with Fig. 2 is a plan view of Fig. 1. small flanges 20 extending inwards substantially 55 Fig. 3 is a front elevational view of Fig.2. at right angles for engaging against the bevel portion of the enlarged bottom portion 10 of the telephone where this bottom portion connects with the upper portion of the telephone. The top flanges 20 should be of such inclinations that they snugly engage against the inclined section of the telephone immediately at the top of the enlarged portion 10.
A cylinder lock 21 is securely mounted upon the side arm of the angle plate 16 and is adapted to coact with a keeper 22 permanently mounted in the wall 13. In Fig. 5 the keeper is shown to comprise a vertical element which is imbedded into the wall 13 and horizontal keeper lugs which extend into a portion of the cylinder lock and are adapted to be engaged by the bolt thereof. The arrangement is such that the angular plate 16 may be securely locked in place concluding the encircling of the enlarged portion of the telephone. The front arm of the angle plate 16 is formed with a cutout 23 aligned with the coin return opening 24 of the telephone 11. The telephone 11 is shown of the type provided with coin deposit openings 25 at the top, generally used, and in which the coins fall down into a coin receiving box at the bottom. In Fig. 2 the fragmentary dot and dash lines indicate the angle plate 16 partially opened.
In Figs. '7 and 8 a modification of the invention has been disclosed in which provision is made for adjusting the angular position of the top flanges 20 of the locking device. Thus these top flanges may be placed in proper angles to snugly engage against the upper edges of the enlarged bottom 10 of the telephone. More particularly each of the flanges 20 is hingedly mounted at its rear end 25 upon the upper edge of the sides of the looking device. A hinge is secured upon the bottom side of each of the flanges 20 and comprises a hinge leaf 26 permanently attached upon the bottom side of the flange 20 and hingedly connected with the second leaf 2'7. This secondleaf, at its lower end, is hingedly connected with a plate 28 adjustably secured upon the inner face of the side of the locking device. The adjustable mounting of the plate 28 is accomplished by studs 29 projecting from the sides of the locking device and extending through vertical slots 30 formed in the plate 28. Nuts 31 threadedly engage upon the studs 29 and serve to clamp the plate against the inner side of the device. To insure proper gripping the adjacent faces of the plate 28 and the sides of the device are formed with serrations 32. The dot and dash lines in Fig. indicate several adjusted positions of the flange 20.
While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise construction herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:
