3 Claims.

This invention relates to lipstick holders and the primary object thereof is to provide a device of this kind wherein a pair of lipsticks of different colors are employed, one color being for day time, and the other color for evening use. A further object of the invention is to provide mounting means for the two lipsticks so that same can be moved into and housed by the holder, and can also be moved out of the holder and then swung to a position at an angle to the holder thereby permitting use of the desired lipstick.

The invention further aims to provide a device of this type wherein the two lipsticks are -arranged in end to end relation and at their outer ends project outwardly from a single carrier whereby to readily permit use of the selected lipstick.

The invention still further aimsA to provide a lipstick holder of simple, economical, and compact construction and one possessed of a minimum ol' parts which may be easily and quickly manipulated.

In proceeding in accordance with the present invention a casing 1 is employed preferably of nylindrical formation having a closed bottom 2. The casing is formed with an elongated or axial slot 3 through which projects a screw 4 having a head 5 to provide a finger grip. The screw 4 is connected to a preferably hollow or sleevelike member 6 which latter is provided with a pair of outwardly extending spaced arms '7. A lipstick carrier or sleeve 8 is pivoted between its ends in vthe space between the arms 7 and at the outer ends of the latter by means of a pin 9. The lipsticks 10 and l1 are arranged in end to end relation in the sleeve 8 and have their outer ends projecting beyond the respective outer ends of the sleeve. The lipsticks being of different colors, one for day and the other for evening use.

A cap or closure 12 is employed which when the parts are in the position of Figure 1 abuts the screw '4, the latter in turn being at the limit of its inward movement, and in this position a struck-out or linger latch 13 carried by the casing 1 frictionally engages the inner circumference of the cap or closure 12 and thereby holds the latter against accidental movement.

(Cl. 20G-56) n win be noted that the pin 9 also functions `to restrict inward movement of each of the lipsticks into the carrier 8 by engagement with the inner end of each.

In operation, it will be noted that with the parts in the position of Figure 3, the lipsticks are at right angles to the axis of the casing, and hence selective use of either is readily afforded. When it is desired to house the lipsticks the sleeve 8 is moved about its pivot 9 to cause the sleeve and the lipsticks to lie in register with the arm 7 whereupon the parts can be slid into the casing as indicated in Figure 2 and the closure 12 then applied.

From the foregoing it will be seen that the entire device affords means for enabling the lipsticks to be easily and quickly moved out of the casing and selectively used, the housing being equally easily and quickly effected.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent isz- 1. In a lipstick holder, a casing having an axial slot, a member` slidable in the casing and having a pair of spaced outwardly extending arms, a finger engaging element connected to said member and extending through the slot of the casing, a sleeve pivoted between its ends to and in the space between said arms, and lipsticks having their inner ends engaged in the respective opposite ends of the sleeve and being of such length so that the sleeve and the lipsticks can be swung to lie in register with said arms and moved therewith into the casing and upon movement of the sleeve out oi the casing same can be swung to lie at right angles to said arms.

2. In a lipstick holder, a casing, a carrier having a pair of lipsticks of varying colors connected thereto in end to end relation, means to mount the carrier for movement into and out of the casing, and means to connect the carrier to the mounting means whereby when the carrier is out of the casing same may be moved to lie at the angle thereto.

3. In alipstick holder, a casing, a unitary hollow open-ended lipstick carrier movable into and out of the casing and having a pair of lipsticks disposed in end to end relation, manually operable means for moveably mounting the carrier for movement into and out of the casing, and means to movably connect the carrier to' said mounting means and for engaging the inner end of each lipstick to restrict inward movement thereof.
