Description

F. ZIESENISS. MOR-SPRINGS.
o. 195,242. Patented Sept.v18,18l'7'7.
MFE'TERS, FHOTO-LITHOGRAPHER, WASHINGTON, D C.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FRANK ZIESENISS, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN DOOR-SPRINGS..
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 195,242, dated September 18, 1877; application led March 2, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, FRANK ZrEsENIss, of the city and county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Doorsprings, which improvement is fully set forth in the following speciiication and accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a front View of the door-spring embodying my invention. Fig. 2 is a side view thereof, partly sectional. Fig. 3 is a top view thereof. Fig. 4 is a section of a portion thereof.
Similar letters of reference indicate corre spending parts in the several tgures.
My invention consists of a bracket in combination with two springs, whose pressurearms are continued into bearings for a roller, and connected by a brace-bar.
Referring to the drawings, A represents a bracket having at opposite ends ears a a, and centrally an ear, B. Near the ears a are lugs C C for the reception of the ends ot' two coiled springs, D D, which are litted on a rod, E, passed through the end ears a and central ear B, and secured to said end ears. The other end of each spring is extended, and the two extended ends approach each other at the central portion ofthe bracket, so as to form pressure-arms F, which project angularly from the rod E, and which, when the device is secured in position, operatein a manner that is well known.
The ends b ofthe arms F are bent toward each other so as to form a bearing for a roller, G, mounted thereon, and in order to prevent separation of said arms, and consequent displacement ot' .the roller, I unite said arms by a rigidly-connected bar, H, which also limits the closing of the arms against the roller, whereby the proper location, security, and operation of the roller are insured.
It -will also be noticed that the rod E connected at the ends of the bracket and braced by the central ear B, and the attachment of the ends of the springs to the lugs C, form a strong connection of' the springs, rod, and bracket, thus providing a reliable device, which reliability is increased by the bracebar H and easily-running roller G.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
'Ihe bracket in combination with the springs D, having the ends of their pressure-arms F continued into bearingsb for the roller G, and connected by the brace-bar H, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
F. ZIESENISS.
