THOMAS A. PLATT, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN SELF-ADJUSTING EVE-SHADES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 195,045, dated September 11, 1877 application filed January 29, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS A. PLATT, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Self-Adjusting Eye-Shades, of which the following is a specification:
The figure is a perspective view of one of my improved eye-shades.
The object of this invention is to furnish an improved eye-shade, which shall be so constructed that it will adjust itself to the shape and size of the head, and may be worn without causing pain or annoyance to the wearer.
The invention consists in an improved eyeshade formed by the combination of the two springs with each other and with the shade, as hereinafter fully described.
A represents the shade, which is crescentshaped, and may be made of any desired size. The shade A is made of pasteboard, covered with cloth of a green, blue, or other desired color. To the concave edge of the shade A is attached a light metal spring, B, to rest against and fit upon the forehead of the wearer. To the ends of the spring Bare secured, by rivets or other suitable means, the ends of a similar metal spring,0, to pass over the head of the wearer, and thus keep the shade A in place.
The springs B 0 should be covered with cloth to keep them from hurting the head, and from being rusted by perspiration.
The spring 0 may be adjusted at any desired angle with the spring B.
