This invention relates to an improved lingerie pin.
One object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which may be employed for retaining shoulder straps in position on the shoulder beneath a garment and at the same time with out rendering the garment unsightly.
A further object of the invention is to provide a lingerie pin wherein the strap-receiving arm is unsharpened so that chafing or pricking of the skin on the shoulder will be prevented.
A further object or" the invention is to provide a lingerie pin which will be practically invisible when position.
And a still further object of the invention is to provide a device of this character which will be of very simple construction and which may be manufactured cheaply and in large quantities.
Other and incidental objects of the invention,
' not specifically mentioned in the foregoing, will be appar nt during the course of the following description.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein, Figure l is a perspective view showing my improved pin in position on the shoulder of a wearer,
Figure 2 is an enlarged longitudinal sectional view of my improved pin,
Figure 3 a bottom plan. view of the same,
Figure 4 is a vertical sectional view taken on the line 4-4 of Figure 2 and looking in the direction indicated by the arrows, and
Figure 5 is a vertical sectional view taken on the line 5-5 of Figure 2.
Refer 'ng now more particularly to the accompanying drawing, wherein like characters of reference designate similar parts throughout the several views, the numeral 1 indicates a body which is preferably formed of light weight metal The body is provided at each end with rounded corners 2 so that chafing of the skin will be prevented. Mounted on the body 1 is a iabric-engaging pin which is indicated in general by the numeral 3. The pin is provided with a long shank 4 which is sharpened at its free end, as is indicated by the numeral 5. The shank 4 extends in parallel spaced relation to the body at one side thereof throughout the major portion of the length of said body. The pin 3 is provided with a stem 6 which is extended through the body at angular relation to the shank 4 and is soldered to the body, as indicated at '7. The stem 6 is projected beneath the body and is bent around itself to define a keeper loop 3. The pin 3 is preferably formed of spring wire so that it will be permitted to spring upwardly when released.
Carried on the body is a strap-receiving arm which is indicated in general by the numeral 9.
The strap-receiving arm is provided with a bar 10 which is bent upon itself throughout its length to provide a rounded end 11. The inner end porion of the bar is bent about a stem 12 which projects upwardly through the body 1 and is soldered thereto at both sides of the body, as is indicated by the numeral 13. The bar 10 normally extends in parallel spaced relation to the body at the opposite side from the shank 4. The stem 12 is projected upwardly and bent around to define a keeper loop 14 which is adapted to retain the shank 4 of the pin 3 in normal locked position. The bar 10 of the strap-receiving arm 9 is formed of resilient wire and, in View of the fact that it is doubled, mutilation thereof will be largely prevented.
In use, my improved lingerie pin is placed beneath the dress at the shoulders thereof and the shank 4 of the pin 3 is passed through material of the dress or under garment. The strap, or straps 15, are passed over the bar 10 of the arm 9 and said bar is shifted so that its end will rest in the loop 8. In this position, the straps are permitted of longitudinal movement over the bar but lateral movement with consequent displacement of the straps from the shoulders will be prevented.
It is particularly emphasized that, inasmuch as the bar 10 of the arm 9 is rounded, as indicated by the numeral 11, chafing of the skin will be prevented. The body 1 will be of sufficient strength to prevent bending and consequent displacement of the pin 3 and bar 9 from their respective keeper loops.
It is believed that from the foregoing, it will be understood that I have provided a simple and highly efficient lingerie pin.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
1. A device of the class described including a body, a pin carried by the body and having a stem extending therethrough and terminating in a keeper loop, and an arm carried by the body and extending at opposite sides thereof and having its opposite ends adapted to engage in the keeper loop, said arm having a stem extending through the body and terminating in a loop adapted to receive the end of the pin.
2. A device of the class described including a body, a pin carried by the body and having a stem extending through the body and fixed thereto, said stem being extended at the opposite side of the body from the pin and adapted to form a keeper loop, and an arm carried by the body and having a bar extending longitudinally of said body and adapted for locking in said keeper loop, said arm having a stem extending through the body and projected at the opposite side from said bar to define a loop receiving the end of the pin, said pin being adapted to engage an article of wearing apparel and said arm being adapted to receive a strap for retaining said strap against displacement from beneath said wearing apparel.
3. A device of the class described including a body, a pin carried by the body and having the shank extending longitudinally thereof, said pin having a stem extending through the body and projected and bent to define a keeper loop, said shank having a sharpened point, an arm carried by the body and having a bar bent upon itself to define a rounded end normally received in the keeper loop, said arm being provided with a stem extending through the body and being projected and bent to form a keeper loop to receive the pointed end of the shank, said shank being adapted to engage a portion of wearing apparel and said bar being adapted to receive a strap for retaining said strap against displacement from beneath said portion of wearing apparel.
