This invention relates to top rollclearers for drawing rolls, of the type used in connection with twisting and spinning machines, and the primaryv object thereof is to provide a clearer which can Ybe easily and quickly-,operated in order to render nclearer composed of hinged sections and wherein Vthe front section can be readily moved about the hinge connection to be superimposed upon and thereby supported by, the rear section.

Theinventionrstill further aims to provide a fclearer which is of simple and economical construction, which can be easily and quickly oper-y ated and which is effective in its action.

The invention has still furtherand other objects which will be later set forth `and manifested in the 'course of the following description.

In proceeding in accordance with the present 4invention a front section connected by hinges 2 to a rear section 3. The rear section is of considerably greater width than that of the front section and isformed to seat back rolls M and'B while the section 1 is formed to seat upon the front roll F; The under sides of thesections are hollowed out at 5 and 6 respectively, and the respective sections areformed with longitudinally 'extending lre'rfs '7 and 8 that extend substantially throughout the lengths of the sections and receive therein the longitudinal side edges of any suitable
