Description

UNITED STATES PATENT Orr-Ion.
JOHN S. MANSUR, OF BROWNSVILLE, TEXAS.
lNlPROVEMENT IN BlLLlARD-CUSHIONS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 193,011, dated July 10, 1877; application filed May 5, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN S. MANSUR, of Brownsville, in the county of" Cameron and State of Texas, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Billiard-Cushions and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the constructiouand operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure l of the drawings is a representation of a sectional view out through the corners of my billiard-cushion. Fig. 2 is a sectional detail view of a modification thereof.
The nature of my invention consists inthe construction of a billiard-cushion capable of being attached to and removed from the table when desired, as will be hereinaftermore fully set forth.
The annexed drawing, to which reference is made, fully illustrates my invention.
A represents the top of a table, of any form and shape and dimensions. B represents a strip of solid rubber of suitable dimensions, or a rubber tube of any desired diameter, which forms the cushion, and is placed around the inside of a frame, 0.
This frame may be made of sheet metal, with an inwardly-projecting flange, at, around its upper edge; or it may simply consist of a strip of leather, formed on its inner side with a longitudinal groove to receive the cushion B, the whole being covered by a cloth, D, substantially as shown,
The frame 0 is to be made of proper size to fit around the edges of the table-top A, and is held by suitable buttons, catches, or other fastening devices, b.
The billiardcushion thus constructed is intended to be used on any sized table, of whatever shape or form the same may be.
All that is necessary to do is to send to the manufacturer the exact size and shape of the table it is to be used on, when the cushion will be made to fit the same.
It is easily attached to the table; and when not desired for use it may be quickly removed,
and the table used for other purposes, as usual.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A rubber cushion, B, attached to a frame, 0, and covered by a cloth, D, and adapted to be attached to and detached from an ordinary table, substantially as herein set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
J. s. MANSUR.
