Application ltiiay 25, 1931, Serial No. 532,886 Renewed February 28, 1233 M (Claims. (Cl. 22l--6@) My invention relates to holding and squeezing devices for paste tubes.
The principal object of my invention is to provide a device for holding and squeezing collapsible containers carrying a substance which it is desired to discharge through an opening therein.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device which may be attached to or taken from the wall or other surface as the need arises.
no And the invention has'a still further object toprovide a device of this, character wherein the means for attaching will not be seen.
A further object of the invention is to provide a simple, inexpensive and a thoroughly practica- 115 ble device that will actually do all that is claimed for it.
These and further objects of the invention will be set forth in the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing,
go and the novel means by which said objects are eiiectuated will be definitely pointed out in th claims.

Referring to the drawing, 1 indicates the body or frame member which may be made of any suitable material, the sides having apertures for accom- 'modating the spindles 2 and '3 on which the rollers 4 and 5 are mounted.- The lower portion of the back 6 has two or more slots. These slots slip over and' around the screws 7 which, when tightened, hold the body to the wall. The trunnions 8 and 9 support the apron or shield 10 between thesides of the body ihthe key holes 11 and 12+ The slotted roller 4 which is'preferably all metal has an extended trunnion 13 which is also slotted to admit the thumb piece 14. When the flattened end of the tube is inserted in the slotted rollerand the-thumb piece turned the tube is drawn between the squeezing mechanism as in Figs. 2 and 6 and the contents forced out. The flange 36 of the frame member 38 is rolled sufficiently to allow the tube 40 to pass yet retarding the tube sufiiciently to causeit to wrap tightso 1y around the pulling roller which causes a pressure of the tube against the roller which in turn forces out the contents. The squeezing member 5 in Fig. 3 may be either a roller or a stationary yielding body, which will allow for the additional space required between the squeezing members as the used portion of the tube is wound around the pulling roller 4. The surface of the slotted roller is preferably roughened so that when the roller is reversed the empty tube will be discharged. The apron or shield 10 is held in place by the trunnions 8 and 9 which fit in the key holes 11 and 12. The apron or shield as shown in Fig.
4 is to conceal the screws or manner of supporting the frame member as well as being used 15 for a guide to prevent the used portion of the tube curling around and wedging between the squeezing mechanism when a slotted roller is not used. Fig. 5 shows a modified form of the slotted roller which may be constructed with a hard surface and yielding'core or bearing 21, which supports the trunnions 24; or, as shown in Fig. 5a, the outside surface may be of a yielding material "and the bearihgs or core 21 of a hard substance,'supporting the trumiions 24. Either of these structures will give sufiiciently to permit the used portion of the tube to be wound around and between the roller and its adjacent squeezing member.
I claim:
1. Means for supporting and compressing a collapsible tube, comprising a curved, substantially cup shaped frame member having substantially parallel end walls, squeezing mechanism comprising a slotted roller, the ends of which are rotatably journaled in hearings in said parallel'walls adjacent the open end of said cup shaped frame member. A curved surface associated with said frame member adjacent to and in fixed position relative to said roller, said roller cooperating with said adjacent curved surface for compressing the tube.
2. Means for supporting and compressing a collapsible tube, comprising a frame membe'i'having substantially parallel end walls, squeezing mechanism consisting of a slotted roller, the ends of which are rotatably journaled in bearings in said walls, a rigid parallel compressing member associated with saidframe member adjacent to and in fixed position relative to said roller, said roller co-operating with said adjacent rigid parno allel compressing member for compressing the tube.
3. Means for supporting and compressing a collapsible tube, comprising a frame member having substantially parallel end walls, squeezing mechanism consisting of a slotted roller, the ends -of which are rotatably journaled in bearings in said walls, a compressing member associated with said frame member adjacent to and in fixed position relative to said roller, said roller co-operating with said adjacent compressing member for com- .suitable material which will give sufliciently to allow the used portion of the tube to be wound around and between the roller and the adjacent rigid parallel compressing member.
5. Means for supporting and compressing a collapsible tube, comprising a frame member hav- ,pressing member associated with said frame ing substantially parallel end walls, squeezing mechanism comprising a fixed yielding or resilient roller, the ends of which are rotatably journaled in bearings insaid walls, a rigid parallel commember adjacent to and in fixed position relative to said roller, said roller co-operating with said adjacent rigid parallel compressing member for compressing the tube.
6. Means for supporting and compressing a collapsible tube, comprising a frame member having substantially parallel end walls, squeezing mechanism comprising a slotted roller, the ends of which are rotatably joumaled in bearings in said walls, said roller co-operating with an adjacent roller, mounted in parallel relation to said slotted roller to securely hold and compress a collapsible tube at least one of the rollers having its outer surface rubber or other giving material soas to compress the tube tighter and yet allow.
for the passing of the used portion of the tube as it is wound around the pulling roller.
'7. Means for supporting and compressing a collapsible tube, comprising a frame member having substantially parallel end walls, squeezing mechanism comprisinga slotted roller, the ends of which are rotatably journaled in-bearings in said walls, said roller co-operating with an adjacent roller, mounted in parallel relation to said I slotted roller to securely hold and compress a collapsible tube at least one of the rollers having a hardsurface with a resilient core between said hard surface and the supporting spindle.-
8. Means for' supporting and compressing a collapsible tube, comprising a frame member having substantially parallel end walls, squeezing mechanism comprising a pair of rollers, at least one of said rollers being slotted, the ends of which are rotatably journaled in bearings in said walls,
- said rollers co-operating to securelyhold and compress a collapsible tube, at least one of the rollers being composed of yielding or resilient substance and a hard core or trunnions which support the roller.
9. Means for supporting and compressing a collapsible tube, comprising a frame member having substantially parallel end walls, squeezing mechanism comprising a slotted roller, the ends of which are rotatably journaled in bearings in said walls, a compressing member associated with said frame member adjacent to and in fixed position relative to said roller, said roller co-operating with said adjacent compressing member for compressing the tube, said roller having a hard surface with a resilient core between said hard surface and the supporting spindle.
10. Means for supporting and compressing a collapsible tube, comprising a frame member having substantially parallel .end walls, squeezing mechanism comprising a slotted roller, the ends of which are rotatably joumaled in bearings in said walls, a compressing member associated with said frame member adjacent to and in fixed position relative to said roller, said roller cooperating with said adjacent compressing member for compressing the tube, said roller having a yielding or resilient surface and a hard core or trunnions which support the roller in said frame member.
11. Means for supporting and compressing a collapsible tube, comprising a frame member having substantially parallel end walls, squeezing mechanism comprising a slotted roller mounted in said end walls, a compressing'member associated with said frame member adjacent to and in fixed position relative to said roller, said roller co-operating with said adjacent compressing member for compressing the tube, and an apron or shield mounted in said frame member to conceal the screws supporting the mechanism or frame member.
12. Means for supporting and compressing a collapsible tube, comprising a frame member hav-' ing substantially parallel end walls, squeezing mechanism comprising a pair of rollers, at least one of the rollers being slotted, the ends of which are rotatably journaled in bearings in said walls,
said rollers co-operating to securely hold and compress a collapsible tube, at least one of the rollers being composed of a yielding or resilient substance and a hard core or trunnions which support the roller, and an apron or shield mounted in said frame member to conceal the screws supporting the mechanism or frame member.
' 13. Means for supporting and compressing a collapsible tube, comprising a frame member having substantially parallel end walls, squeezing mechanism comprising a pair of rollers, at least one of the rollers being slotted, the ends of which are rotatably journaled in bearings in said walls, said rollers co-operating to securely hold and compress collapsible tube, at least one of the rollers being composed of a hard surface with a resilient core between said hard surface and the supporting spindle, and an apron or shield mounted in said-frame member to conceal the screws supporting the mechanism or frame member.
14. Means for supporting and. compressing a collapflble tube, comprising a substantially cup shaped frame member having substantially parallel end walls, squeezing mechanism comprising a slotted roller, the ends of which are rotatably journaled in bearings in said parallel walls adjacent the open end of said cup shaped frame member, a compressing member'associated with said frame member adjacent to and in fixed parallel position relative to said roller, said roller co-operating with said adjacent compressing member for compressing the tube.
