The utility, object and advantages of the present invention will be apparent from the accompanying drawings and following detail description.

Referring in detail to the drawings, 1 indi-1 cates the display device constituting the subject matter of the present invention in display position, said device comprising appropriately cut blank 2 and a cooperating supporting portion 3. The blanks 2 and 3 may be constructed of cardboard. fibrous board, Celluloid, sheet metal or the like.
The blank 2 may be notched as shown best at 4 and 5 in Fig. 4 and may virtually divide said blank into three sections, a central section 6 and end sections 7 and 8. The upper portion of the central section 6 may be utilized for advertising or display purposes and will hereinafter be referred to as display panel 9. rl`he panel 9 may be divided from the remaining portion of notch 5. The score line 10 may serve as a line of fold which, when the device is in display po sition, would be the line of intersection between the display panel 9 and the central platform 11. The blank 2 may be provided with a horizontal score line 12 which may extend from the outer edge of the end section '7 to the outer edge of the end section 8, said score line being cut upon the front face of the blank. The score line 12 di= vides the lower portion 13 or front central panel from the platform 1l, and when the display is in display position constitutes the line of intersection between the platform 11 and the front panel 13. Each of the end sections may be provided with score lines lll which may be the virtual conn `tinuations of the score line 10 but are cut upon the opposite face of the blank, that is, are cut upon the front face. The lines 1li divide the upper portion of the end sections into the members 15 and 16 whereas the score lines 12 separate the members 16 from the wing front panels 17. When the device is in assembled or display position, the portions 16 constitute the wing platforms whereas the portions 17 constitute the wing front panels. The purpose of the provision of the elements 15 will be hereinafter more fully de scribed.
The lower portion of the blank may be prou vided with score lines 18, one end of each of which terminates at the bottom of the blank whereas the opposite end of each of said lines terminates at the apices of the notches l and 5 defined by the angularly inclined lines 19 and 20. The score lines 18 may be cut upon the front face of the blank 2.
The blank 3 may, if desired, take a snbstanu tially rectangular form as shown best in Fig. 5, and may be divided by score lines 21 into three sections,. a central section 22 and Wing sections 23, the score lines 21 being cut from the upper' face of the blank 3.
In utilizing the device hereinbefore described, the blank 2 may be folded along the score line 10 and the central display panel 9 may be brought to a position at right angles to the central platform 11, the central section may also be folded along score line 12 until platform 11 is brought to a position at substantially right angles to the front central panel 13 or, in other words, until the central display panel 9 is substantially parallel to the front central panel 13. The members l5 may be folded along score lines 14 until they occupy a position substantially at right angles to the wing platforms 16, the remaining portion of said end sections may be folded along the score lines 12 until wing platform 16 occupies a position substantially at right angles to the wing front panel 17. As is obvious, this folding operation may bring the wing platforms and the cen-= tral platform into the same horizontal plane. The wing or end sections 7 and 8 may then be folded along the vertical score lines 18 until the lines 19 and 20 of the notches 4l and 5 respectively are brought to an abutting position. lin this manner a continuous step or platform is provided and the surface of said platforms are maintained in a common plane.
The blank 3 may be folded along the score lines 21 until the surfaces 23 are disposed at right angles to the surface 22, similar to the angular disposition of the wing 17 to the surface 13. The central portion 22 of the blank 3 may then be adhesively united to the rear face of theV central display panel 9 and the elements 15 may be respectively adhesively united to an intermediate portion of the wing members 23. 1n this manner a display structure may be providedwhich may comprise a main or central display panel [supported and'- ornamented by the provision of a step-like or terraced platform which may be adapted to support merchandise referred to in advertising matter printed or otherwise indicated upon the front face of the central display panel 9. The arrangement is such that the device is selfsupported and the platforms are so constructed as to be capable of sustaining an appreciable load. In addition, the construction is such that the entire unitary device may be folded into a relatively small package for shipping as shown best in Fig. 6.
Referring particularly to Figs. 'I to 12, the reference numeral 1 indicates a slightly modifiedl form of my invention and may comprise appropriately cut blanks 2', 3 and e", material comprising said blanks being the same as that cdmprising the `blanks 2 and 3. The blank 2' may be providedwith V-fshaped notches 5' and 6" which virtually divide said blank into three sections, wing sections 'l' and 8 and central section 9. The upper portion ofthe central section 9' hereinafter referred to as central display panel 10', may be of anydesired configuration and may be used for a purpose similar to that for which the central display panel 9 is used. Central panel 10 may be separated from an intermediate portion or central platform 11' by a horizontal score line 12' which may be cut upon the rear face of the blank 2'. The intermediate portion or central platform 11 may be separated from the lower portion or front panel 13' by score line 14', which may be cut upon the front face of the blank and may extend entirely across the three sections 7', 9 and 8' comprising the blank. The Wing sections 7' and 8 may be provided with upper score lines 15' which may be virtual continuations of the score line 12 but are cut upon the front face of the wing sections of the blank. The score lines 15 divide the upper portions of the wing sections 7 and 8 into strips 16 and wing platforms 17. The wing platforms 17 are divided from the lower portion 18 of the wings "7 and 8 by the score line 14 which as has been hereinbefore described traverses the entire widthof the blank 2. A plurality of vertical score lines 19' may terminate at one end at the lower edge of the blank 2' whereas the opposite ends of said score lines terminate at the apices of the notches 5 and 6 defined by the angularly inclined lines 20 and 2l.
The blank 3 may be provided with vertical score lines 22 which may divide said blank into three portions, wing portions 23 and central portion 24.', the score lines 22 being cut upon the front face of the blank 3. As will be hereinafter more fully described, when the device l' is assembled in display position the central por-s tion 24 of the blank 3 may be adhesively united to the rear face of the central portion 9' of the blank 2;'and the strips 16 upon the wings TI and 8' may be folded along score lines l5', and may be adhesively united to the Wing sections 23 of the blank 3'.
The blank 4: may be provided at its upper edge with V shaped notches 25 and 26' which may be substantially similar to the notches 5 and 6 and may divide. the blank 4' into three sections, a central section 27. and wing sections 28' and 29'. The upper portion of the three sections comprising the blank l may be provided with a horizontal score line 30 which may extend across the entire face of the blank and may divide the wing sections into upper strips 3l and wing platforms 32 and may divide the central section 27" into upper strip 33 and central platform 311'.
The score line 30 may be cut upon. the front face of the blank 4. The blank li may be provided with a second score line 25' which may extend across the entire front face of said blank and may separate wing platforms 32 from wing panels 36 and also central platforms 34' from front panel 37 upon the wing sections 28' and 29' and central section 27 respectively. A third score line 38 may extend across the entire face of the blank 4.' and may provide base flanges 39' and 40 upon the central section -27 and wing sections 28 and 29 respectively. The anges 40 may be separated from the central ange 39' by V shaped notches 4l' and 42'. Vertical score lines 43 may connect the apices of the notches 25 and al and 26' and 12 respectively, said score line being cut upon the front face of the blank 4.
In utilizing my invention, the central portion of blank 2' lmay be folded along the score line 12 until central display panel 10' assumes a position substantially at right angles to central platform l1', the central portion of the blank may then be folded along the score line 14 until platforms 11' and 17" are brought respectively 1125 to a right angle relationship with front panels 13' and 18. Inthis manner central display panel l0 will be brought to a position substantially parallel to the front central panel 13'.
Strip 16 may be folded along the score lines 15' 13o until said strips occupy a position substantially at right angles to the planes of the platforms 17.
The central portion 24 of the blank 3' may then be adhesively united to the rear face of the display-panel 10 and both blanks 2' and 3' may 135 be folded along score lines 19' and 22 respectively until the angularly inclined lines 20' and 2l are brought into contact with each other.
The strips 16' may then be adhesively united to an intermediate portion of the wing sections 36 and 37', the base flanges 39 and 40 being folded along the score line 38 untilsaid flanges occupy a position at right angles to the panels 36 and 37'. The blank 4 may then be folded along lines 43' until the adjacent sides of the notches 25 and 26 are brought into contact with each other. The strips 31' and 33' may then be adhesively united to intermediate portions of the front panels 18 and 13 respectively. In this manner the lower step or terrace may be formed upon device 1.
The device 1 similar to the device 1 may be folded into a very small package, the wing sections of the device 1' being adapted to fold backwardly adjacent the rear face of the central sections and the steps or terraces being adapted to fold into a single plane. It can readily be seen from this construction that as many steps or terraces may be constructed in conjunction with a device of this character as desired and, hence, I do not wish to be limited to the precise number of said steps or terraces shown. It is also to be understood that the device may be constructed in many more pieces, the respective pieces being adhesively united and consequently I do not wish to be limited to the precise number of blanks shown.
The device 1' similar tothe member 1 is selfsupported when in display position and the construction of the terraces or steps is such that said terraces or steps are capable of sustaining a relatively large load.
I claim as my invention: I
1. A display device comprising in combination, a central display panel, supporting means for said panel joined to and disposed in substantially the same plane with said panel, a plurality of platforms `spaced vertically from each other and angularly disposed around a portion of said central display panel, front panels supporting the front portions of said platforms, each front panel extending beneath the plane of the lowest platform.
2. A display device comprising in combination, a central display panel, a plurality of platforms disposed in the same plane and angularlyv disposed around a portion of said central display panel and formed integral therewith, a plurality of front panels formed integral with and supporting the front portions of said platform, a plurality of platforms disposed in a plane below said first mentioned platforms, the rear portions of said platforms being supported by the front panel of said higher platforms and a plurality of front -platforms formed integral with and supporting
