Description
Sept. 12, 1933. A. H. ENDSOR 1,926,975
CLOTHESLINE HOLDER Filed Aug. 23, 1932 flasszar f2. ENDSOR INVENTOR Patented Sept. 12; 1933 UNi'rEo STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
This invention relates to clothes line holders and it has for one of its objects the provision of a simple, inexpensive and efiicient device of the character mentioned and also a holder which 5 may be further employed to move a clothes line.
The invention will be fully and comprehensivel5 and modifications may be made therefrom as, do
not affect the spirit of the invention nor exceed the scope thereof as expressed in the appended claim.
In the drawing:
Fig. 1 is an elevational View, partly in section, of the device of. my invention showing it mounted on a clothes line and attached to the clothes line pulley with a support for the latter, the device or holder being shown in this view asin a holding orlocked position.
Fig. 2 is an elevational view, partly in section, of the same device as shown'in Fig. l but shows the same in open position; and
. Fig. 3 is a section taken on line 33 of Fig. 2.
Referring to the drawingfor a more detailed description thereof, the numeral 5 indicates a channel to the sides of which are secured upright members 6 between which. is disposed and to which is pivoted the shank 7 of a handle 8. The
handle carries a member 9 having a convex lower surfaceprovided with teeth 10. Said member 9 may be locked so that the line 11 is held tightly between it andthechannel, as shown in Fig. 1, or it may be moved so as to .permit the line to pass freely between it and the channel, as shown in Fig. 2. Swivelly secured to the top of the handle is a hook 12 adapted to engage a link 13 which is swivelly mounted in'an eyelet 14 integral with the clothes line pulley 15, which is supported by a hook 16 screwed into a support 17.
It is obvious that the connection of the handle to the pulley is effective to hold the device in locked position gripping the line and to hold the line at any desired position. When the'hook 12 is disengaged from the link 13 the device may be employed to move the line to any desired position, this being accomplished by pulling on the device when in a locked position, then unlocking it,
then advancing it in the unlocked position, and
then moving it to locked positionand again pulling it,'. the line thus beingrnoved in successive steps to the desired position.
What is claimed as new is:
A clothes line fastener comprising a channel, a V
convex, toothed member pivotally mounted rela tive to said channel and movable to hold a line tight between it and the'channel or to allow the ALBERT H. ENDSOR.
