My invention relates to adisplay stand and particularly to a; stand which'l is formed of bendable sheet "material, such as fiberboard,
eithersolid or cellular.
The'nob ject of my invention is to producea display stand whichis simple in construc: tion and "easily asse bled while being rigid and attractive in, appearance.
7. In the "accompanying drawing, 7' which" illustrates one form of stand made in accordance with inventiong'jFigure 1 is-a front elevation; Figure 2 is partly a top plan view is a plan view of the blank-from which the body of the stand 'is-formed and Figure 6 a'plan view of the blank fromwhic'h thetop shelf member is formed. vFor convenience in illustration 1' have shown the stand as formed of 'solid fiberboard, cellular board, suchasfsingle wall corrugated board will, however; be more suitable on account ofits combined lightnessand strength. The stand comprises a ,body'por-- tion and upper and lower shelf; members, The body portion-is formed from a blank,
w shown in Figure 5, consistingof arectangular sheet of'fiberboard. This blank is divided by vertical crease lines 1 into eight panels 2 which form the sides of anoctagonal tubular member when the ends tof the blank are se-' cured together by any suitablemeans, such 35. as a strip of gurmned tape=3. Formed in alternate panels near the top. of the-blank are slits providing partially detached tabs 4 v which may be bent inwardlyat rightangles I to thepanels to form integralsupporting bracketsfor the top shelf member. Formed in alternate panels, preferably those situated between the panels in which-the tabsetar'e formed, are slitsproviding partially detached tabs 5 which may be'bent inwardly at I right angles tothe panels to'form integral supporting brackets for supporting the lower shelf. The tabs 5 are of relatively large size so that the apertures formed when theygare bent inwardlyprovide door ways through which merchandisema-y be placed upon or the attached display'board; .7 1 V To assemble the stand, after the ends of the" body blank are seoured together, the' tab's 5 are -bent. inwardly and the shelf member 1l inserted through the top of the body to rest thereon.) The tabs l'arejnow' bent inwardly, and the upper shelf :7 k placed thereon, the lower [edges ofthe enlarged portion of the, displayboard engaging the slots 10, so that this'board is firmly heldin upright position I I in orderto' notonly provide a surface for. f advertising matter but also toserv'e'as a sup: port for tall article's displayedon the shelf 3 7. Thecontact of; the edges of theishelves 'with the inner surface of the tubular body, rigidlybraces, the walls of the stand agai-nst. i relative movement and thus produces a rigid structure in a simple and economic manner. f I This result mightbe obtained by so shaping the 'shelvesthat'each would oontactwith only" alternate panels, but I prefer to form the 'wi-th alleightpanels; 7' -V Having fully described my; inventlon what'I claim asrnew and desire to secure by p M sini w ST D Application filed; Tanuary. 2, v 1932 sca ar 1%.; 5&4365;

A display stand comprising "panels forming. an open end tubular bodyiportion two ofsaid panels being provided open endedslotspositioned adjacent their unetion with a third panel, inwardly projecting integral brackets carried by said body portion, a shelf capable of being introduced into the open end of the body portion, said shelf resting upon said brackets, and a flange carried on one edge of said shelf and having laterally projecting parts entering the open ended slots when the shelf is positioned, whereby the shelf is held in position on the brackets.
2. A display stand comprising panels forming an octagonal tubular body portion, inwardly projecting integral brackets carried by four alternate panels, a shelf supported on said brackets,'door ways formed in the panels intermediate the panels carrying said brackets, the material detached to form said door ways being bent inwardly to from a second set of brackets below said. first named set, and a second shelfsupported on said second set of brackets adjacent the door ways. 7 v
