An object of the invention is to provide a glove having a thumb formed of a palm member and a back member, which are secured together, the palm member and the back member having substantially parallel oblique inner edges secured to the body of the glove. Preferably the back member if the thumb is wider than the palm member of the thumb.

Another object of the invention is to provide corresponding sides of the back and the palm of the body of the glove with extending edges to which the oblique edges of the thumb members are secured.

Still another object of the invention is to provide a glove with a palm body member and a back body member, the back body member being of greater width than the palm body member, and a thumb constructed of a palm member and a back member greater in width than the palm member, the palm member and the back member constituting the thumb having oblique ends which are secured to the body members.

A further object of the invention is to provide a glove having a thumb with a fourchette piece between side edges of the back and palm of the thumb, the fourchette piece extending between the back and palm of the forefinger of the body of the glove and being secured thereto.

Additional objects of the invention will appear in the following specification in which the preferred form of the invention is described.

By referring to the drawings it will be seen that the body of the glove has a palm member 10 and a back member 11, the back member 11 being of greater width than the palm member 10, and the palm member 10 havingextending portions 12 and the back member 11 having extending portions 13 which have their. edges secured together to form the fingers of the glove. It will be seen that the forefinger 22 of the back member 11 is wider than the forefinger 23 of the palm member 10 and that all the fingers 13 and 22 of the back member 11 are longer than 251 the fingers 12 and 23 of the palm member The palm member 10 at its side 14 has a projecting edge or butt 15 and the back memer 11 at its side 16 has a projecting edge or butt 17, these projecting edges 15 and 17 being of substantially the same length and one being disposed above the other when the edges of the palm member 10 and the back member 11 are secured together except at their projections 15 and 17 and'at their inner ends which are normally disposed at the wrist of the wearer. The thumb of the glove is formed with two pieces, as illustrated in Figures 3 and 4, the palm member 18 of the thumb not being as wide as the back member 19 of the thumb, and the back member 19 being preferably longer than the palm member 18. The inner end 20 of the palm member 18 is disposed obliquely relatively to the body of the palm member 18 of the thumb, and the inner end 21 of the back member 19 is also disposed obliquely relatively to the body of the back member 19 of the thumb, this oblique end 21 of the back member 19 of the thumb being slightly longer than the oblique end 20 of the a distance to 34 and then converging in the palm member 18 of the thumb. The back member 19has a depression 19 at one side.

The edges of'the palm member 18 and the back member 19 are sewed, or otherwise secured to ether, leaving the thumb piece open at its obdique portions 20land 21 and these oblique portions are disposed within the projections 15 and 17 and are sewed thereto, the palm member 18 of the thumb belng sewed adjacent its edge 20 to the projectlon l5 and the back member 19 of the thumb being sewed adjacent its edge 21 to the projection 17.

It will be seen from the above that not only will the back of the body of the glove be wider than the palm of the glove so that the seams at the edges of the body of the glove will be disposed nearer the palm than the back of the glove, but it Will also be seen that the thumb will be made of two pieces with the back piece wider than the palm piece of the thumb and that the seam at the sides of the thumb will be nearer the palm of the thumb than-to the back of the thumb.

In the modified form of the invention the back and palm members 24 of the body are of the same size and the back and palm members 25 of the thumb of the glove are also of the same size. In this form of the invention a fourchette piece 26 is employed and this fourchette piece 26 extends from the tip 27 of the thumb of the glove to the body of the glove at the inner end of the thumb and then outwardly to the tip 28 of the forefinger 29 35 f of the glove, the sides of the fourchette piece 26 being secured to the back and palm mem bers 25 of the thumb at 30 and to the back and the palm portions of the forefinger 29. The inner ends of the members 25 of the thumb are secured to the projections 36 on the members 24. If desired the fourchette piece 26 may be continued around the several fingers between their back and palm portions and be secured thereto, thereby separating the back and palm portions of the fingers with 'the exception of the outer side of the little finger 31, the fourchette piece 26 preferably ending at 32 at the outer end of the said little fin er 31.

The portion of the fourchette piece 26 between 33 and 34 will be between the back and palm members 25 of the thumb and the portion between 34 and 35 will be between the back and palm portions of the forefinger 29.

What is claimed is:

1. A glove having a back and a palm with adjacent projecting edges, and a thumb with a palm member and a back member secured together and having substantially parallel inner edges secured to the said projecting edges.

2. A glove having a back and a palm with adjacent two substantially parallel rojecting butts, the back being wider an longer than the palm and being secured thereto, a thumb having a palm member and a back member of greater width than the palm member, the back member having anotch at one side, the sides of the back member bein secured to the sides of the palm member an the inner ends of the back and palm members being secured to the said butts.

3. A glove having a body with butts exmember being secured at its sides to the back and to the palm portions of the thumb and to the back and palm portions of the forefinger.

4. A glove having a back and a palm with adjacent edges and with butts on the back and palm extending outwardly beyond the said edges on the back and the palm, and a thumb with palm and back portions having inner edges secured to the said butts.

5. A glove having a back and a palm with substantially parallel butts, the butts proj ecting outwardly and laterally, and a thumb with a palm portion and a back portion having substantially parallel inner edges secured to the said projecting butts.

6. A glove having a back with a side edge and with a butt projecting beyond the said edge and a palm with a side edge and with a butt projecting beyond the second mentioned edge, and a thumb with a back portion and a palm portion having adjacent inner edges secured to the said butts.

7. A glove element having at a side edge below the forefinger and at the osition of the thumb an outwardly extending lateral thumb butt serving as a guide and base for the attachment of the base of a thumb blank,

' and a thumb blank having a base secured to the thumb butt beyond the body of the glove element.
