Description
G. RETTIGi COIN-WRAPPER.
No. 190,903. Q Patented May15, 1877.
N- PETERS, PHOTO-UTHOGRAPHER. WASHINGTON. D
UNITED STATES PATELIT OEEIQE GEORGE EETTIefoE CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF HIS RIGHT TO FRIEDRICH BENZINGER, or SAME PLACE.
IMPROY EMENT IN COIN-WRAPPERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 190,903, dated May 15, 1877 application filed April 16, 1877.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE RETTIG, of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented a new and useful Self- Oounting Coin-Wrapper, of which the following is a full and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the wrapper before closing, and Fig. 2 is a similar view of the wrapper when sealed.
The nature of my invention relates to wrappers for rolls of coin; of equal denomination, so constructed and arranged that only a certain number of coins will find space therein, thereby avoiding mistakes and saving the labor of counting; and it consists of 'a flap of papercloth or other suitable material, one end of which is secured upon the edges of about half the circumference of two pasteboard washers, being of equal diameter with the specific coin, and being placed such a distance apart to conform with the measurement, of the number of coins to be wrapped. The correct value of the coin being placed in between said washers, the flap is turned over it and pasted or sealed, and the edges of the flap, being out scalloping, are bent and pasted upon the faces of the washers.
A is a flap of paper-cloth, its side edges a being cut scalloping and gummed, and its rear end a being shaped tapering, and likewise gummed. B B are two washers, made of pasteboard or other suitable material, the diameter of which is to correspond with the diameter of the denomination of coin for which the wrapper is intended. The two washers B are jointed to the flap A at such a distance apart from each other that the space between them will admit the requisite number of coins only. The end of the flap A is secured upon the edges of said washers to about one-half of their circumference, so as to form a halfcircular trough, into which the coin is placed and locked by turning the remaining or loose portion of the flap over the roll, and the scalloped edges over the ends, where the gum, first dam pened, will secure it.
Labels stating the value and kind of coin may be pasted upon the face and the ends of the wrapper.
These wrappers can be made of various sizes for all kinds of coin, and of lengths to hold different values.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The self-counting coin-wrapper described, consisting of the flap A, having the scalloped and gum med edge a a, and the stifi end pieces B, constructed and arranged substantially as described and shown.
GEORGE RETTIG.
