Description

W. BRUCE.
TOY MONEY-BOX.
No 190 704, Patented May15, 1877.
FHOTO-LITHOGRAPHER, WASHINGTON. D c,
UNITED STATES PATENT CFFICE.
WILLIAM BRUCE, OF MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA, ASSIGNOR TO FRANK BRUCE, OF SAME PLACE.
I IMPROVEMENT IN TOY MONEY-BOXES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 190,704, dated May 15, 1877; application filed January 3, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM BRUCE, of Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and useful Improvement in the Manufacture of Toy Money-Boxes, made of wood or other material, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing.
The object of my invention is to manufacture a novel and useful toy money-box in the cheapest and quickest manner possible, fastening the several pieces together without the use of metallic fastenings, glue, or cement of any description.
To accomplish such a result the box is made of six pieces of wood, or other material of equal size, (the ends not coming in contact,) each piece being grooved near the ends a a, as shown in Fig. l, for the purpose of fitting and holding the pieces together, thus making a. strong, durable, and compact box.
To illustrate more fully, Fig. 2 represents the box put together and complete in all its parts. To insure greater readiness in putting the pieces together into box form, one, at least, of the said pieces should be provided upon one of its inner edges, between the grooves,
with a bevel or cut-away portion, 0. cated in Fig. 1 in dotted lines.)
Fig. 3 represents what might be termed a button, through which is made an aperture, b, for depositing the money. This button is made of a separate piece of wood or other material, and is sufficiently large to receive coin, and can be easily detached from the box when occasion requires that it should be emptied.
Fig. 4 represents a sectional view of the button.
I claim as my invention- 1. A toy money box, constructed in six pieces, of wood or other suitable material, each piece provided with the grooves a a, and the whole adapted to be held firmly together without glue metallic or other fastening, substantially as described.
2. In combination with the subject-matter of the preceding clause, a movable button fitting an opening in the box, and having a slot or other aperture for admitting the deposit, as set forth.
