IMPROVEMENT IN CLOTHES-DRIERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 190,524, dated May 8, 1877; application filed I June 3, 1876.
To all whom it may-concern:
Be it known that l, GEORGE B. STEPHEN- SON, of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, have invented a new and Improved Clothes-Drier or Rack; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of center stand, the drying-frame beingremoved.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
The object of my invention is to construct a convenient folding frame for drying clothes, and to provide the same with sliding feet, to prevent its toppling over while in use, all as hereinafter more fully shown and specified.
In the drawing, A is a polygonal upright or post, to the sides of which are hinged the folding arms or frames a a, which may be of any suitable construction that admits of their being folded up against the central post when the device is not in use. The post A is perforated vertically, and rotates upon a pin or axle, b, secured vertically upon a standard, B.
The underside of standard B has the feet at,
which are held in place by any suitable device that admits of their being slid under the standard B when the drier is not in use, thus occupying but verylittle space. These feet are shown in various degrees of extension at f, g, and h in Fig. 3.
I am well aware that folding frames for drying clothes or other similar purposes are not new; but I am not aware that such have been provided with sliding feet to prevent their toppling over While in use; hence,
Having thus described myinvention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States 1. The stand B, having upright center shaft band sliding feet d, substantially as and for the purpose shown and specified.
