This invention relates to a curtain rod tip or curtain protector, and it is an object of the invention to provide a device of this kind which, when applied to the endportion of a rod, provides effective means to facilitate the desired threading of the rod through the casing or sheathe of the curtain or other -dra-- pery. g

This intermediate portion 7 is also of channel formation and receives the end of the rod C upon which the tip or device is applied whereby effective protection is had against such sharp edges of the rod cutting or otherwise injuring the fabric of the curtain when the rod is being threaded into applied position.

thereby providing means to facilitate the desired threading of the rod through a casing or sheathe and at the same time eliminating the liability of the fabric of such casing or sheathe being injured during such threading operation. vWhen the device is applied to the curtain rod the wings 2 have close contact with theouter face of the rodwhile the flat lugs 3 are disposed inwardly to have close contact with the free longitudinal edges of the rod. The contact of the lugs 3 with the longitudinal edges of the rod serve to maintain the side arms closely adjacent tothe rod and also hold said side arms-when the tip is applied against any tendency of separating movement as a result of inherent resiliency possessed by the tip. The lugs 4e have close frictional contact with the free longitudinalmarginal portions of the rod. I

It is, therefore, believed to be clearly apparent that the construction of the tip or protector is such as to permit its ready and convenient application to the end portion of a curtain rod and also to assure the device against accidental displacement.

From the foregoing description it is thought to be obvious that a curtain rod tip or curtain protectoriconstructed in accordance with my invention is particularly-well adapted for use vby reason of the convenience and facility with which it. may be assembled and operated, and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification without departing from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not'wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice except as hereinafter claimed.

1. A tip for a curtain rod of a flat C type comprising a U-shaped member having channel side arms to snugly receive therebetween an. end portion of the rod, said side arms at one side of the tip being provided with, inwardly disposed fiat lugs to be extended-inwardly of the rod to which the tip is applied for close contact with the free longitudinal edges of the rod.
