it place Without the need of a belt or other supporting devices.
Second, to provide such a garment which is neat and attractive in appearance and adapted for close fitting.
Objects pertainlng to details and .economies of construction and operation will appear from the description to follow. A preferred embodiment of my invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in
which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of my improved garment from the rear. j
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the front of the top portion of the garment shown in Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a side elevational view of the top of the garment shown in Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a detail view of the closing means.
Fig. 5 is a sectional View taken on the line 5-5 of Fig. 4.
Referring to the drawing, the trousers 1 have side portions 2 and 3 joined together at the rear of the seat by a seam 4 which terminates below the waist 5 of the garment to provide a placket openin 6 which is adapted to be closed by an inner ap 7 and outer flaps 3 and 9. The outer flaps are formed by foldmg back portions 10 and 11 of the material of the garment.
Flacket fastening means 12 consisting of a pan of coacting slide actuated interlocking elements 13 and 14 which are supported by v supporting strips 15 and 16 respectively is disposed beneath the outer flaps 8 and 9. The
supporting strip 15 is secured beneath the I outer flap 9 by means of stitching 17 and stitching 18 secures holding strips 16 and the mner flap 9 to the back of outer flap 8. When the fastener is closed, as in Fig. 1, the outer flaps 8 and 9 come together to effectively conceal fastening means 12.
The coacting rows of interlocking elements 13 and 14 are adapted to be interlocked with each other by means of interlocking slide 19 having a small finger piece 20. When the finger iece 20 is grasped and the interlocking sli e 19 is pulled upwardly, as in Fig. 4, it moves the rows of interlocking elements 13 and 14 together and interlocks them. When the interlocking slide 19 is moved downwardly the rows of interlocking elements are disengaged from each other and the placket 6 is opened.
The upper part of the garment is finished by a continuous firm waistband 21 extending around the top of the garment and secures the ,front thereof, terminating at the placket opening 6. The band here shown is a continuous strip of cloth extending completely around t e waist of the garment to both sides of the placket opening 6. At the sides of the trousers 1 may be provided pairs of straps 22 and 23 each pair having a buckle 24 associated therewith for varying the length of the waistband. These straps may be disposed elsewhere on the trousers provided they are not laced to mar ,the front appearance and may e eliminated entirely without affecting the desirable features.
As in the garment of my co-pending application, the trousers may be made to substantially fit the wearer and may be adjusted by the straps to assure a snug fit across the front to give the trousers the proper fit and to afford support for the garment on the body of the wearer. The garment is similar to that shown in my co-pending application and embodies the advantagesthereof in a different form. It will be appreciated that the construction gives an extremely neat appearance to the trousers, especially at the waist.
Having thus described my invention, what claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

A pair of trousers or like garment having a. continuous firm waistband across the front with a fly openin therebeneath, a waist placket opening at .t e rear, interlocking fastener elements secured to the edges of sa d placket opening, and a coacting slide to actuate said interlocking fastener elements 7 to unite the edges with a continuous fastener mterlocking. fastener elements secured to the ed es of said placket openin a coacting sli e to actuate said interloc ing fastener elements to unite the edges with a continuous fastener to form a close fitting band and garment that will be effectively supported on the body of the wearer, and adjustmg straps and means on said garment.
justing straps and means at the sides of said garment.
7 A pair of trousers or like garment having a continuous firm waistband, a front fly opening1 therebeneath, a waist placket opening at t e rear, interlocking fastener elements secured to the edges of said placket opening, a coacting slide to actuate said interlocking fastener elements to unite the edges with a continuous fastener to form a close fitting band and garment that will be effectively supported on the body of the wearer, and adjusting straps'and means on said garment.
8. A pair of trousers or like garment having a continuous firm waistband, a front fly opening therebeneath, a waist placket opening at a point to the rear of the front of said garment, interlocking fastener elements secured to the edges of said placket opening, and a coacting slide to actuate said interlocking fastener elements to unite the edges with a'continuous fastener to form a close fitting band and garment that will be efiectively supported on the body of the wearer.
9. A pair oftrousers or like garment having a continuous firm waistband, a front fly opening therebeneath, a waist placket opening at a point to the rear of the front of said garment, interlocking fastener elements secured to the edges of said placket opening, a coacting slide to actuate said interlocking fastener elements to unite the edges with a continuous fastener to form a close fitting band and garment that will be effectively su ported on the body of the wearer, and adgusting straps and means on said garment.
