RIDING HABIT Application filed January 27, 1931.
This invention relates to improvements in garments of rousers variety such as used for riding, hiking, golf, etc., for men, women and for children, but more particularly for womens apparel.
One of the main objects of this invention is to provide a simple, efficient garment so constrained in use as to permit the rear seat portion thereof to be folded back upon itself to open position thereby giving access to the undergarments of the wearer, without changing the position of the front part of the trousers or of the position of the belt,a condition which entirely eliminates the so-called panty waists for children.
A further object thereof is to provide a trousers garment with integral means, located a: the rear upper portion thereof, and designed to allow the seat portion thereof to be pulled down to open or drop position whilst the front part of the garment is propcrly draped or supported around the figure of the wearer.
Another object of this invention is to provide, in a trousers garment, a quickly attachable and detachable drop seat, characterized by the feature of instant disengagement from the adjacent parts of the garment and by the simple mann r of disconnecting it from the belt that ma f be worn about the waist line or the garment without sagging.
further object of the present invenprovide a novel trouser garment b for use females whereby, when casion arises for making way for exposing the posterior parts of the an ato y, it will not as at present required, to let 're upper part of the garment,
r t that the contents of the 00k cts the garment may fall out and wit the er inconvenience of having to detach and ttach the usual belt girdling the waist line of the garment.
Another purpose is to provide a trousers arment for women which, while allowing 1 e front upper part to remain belted around he figure, will permit the quick detachment the rear seat thereby affording the same ect, when it is necessary to expose the poserior part of the anatomy from inside the Serial No. 511,505.
garment, as would be the case were the entire upper part of the garment let down.
In carrying out the details of making the present garment, a trousers is provided of proper shape, drape, and disposition about 55 i the person of the wearer, with the added convenience of a detachable rear seat whose upper edge and opposing edges are quickly connected to or disconnected from the adjacent parts of the garment, without disturbing the position of the usual belt employed to secure the figure of the wearer.
With the above and other objects in View my invention consists in the combination, and details of construction disclosed in the drawing and specification, and then more particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawing, wherein similar reference characters designate similar parts throughout the respective views,
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a trousers showing the belt mounted thereupon, and showing also the quickly operable connector between drop seat and adjacent parts of the garment. a
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the parts of the garment,
Figure 3 is a rear elevation of the garment with attached belt,
Figure 4 is a rear elevation of the garment showing the drop seat in open position.
It is well known that when trousers are worn by females no provision is made in the garment, when nature calls, to uncover just so much of the waist line or adjacent parts of the knickers as will lead to the desired action without the necessity of letting down the entire upper part of the garment. The present invention overcomes this shortcoming by providing a drop seatwhich alone need be detached from the garment when it is necessary to expose the parts of the anatomy, and which does not interfere with the belted method of maintaining the waist line of the garment about the hips of the wearer of the garment.
The trousers shown is designated broadly 10 having the usual leg portions 11. 16 designates the drop seat, the outer portion of which is designated 24. The opposing lateral edges of the drop seat carry the conventional 100 clasp elements 14 in a longitudinal line, While the adj acentedgesof the garment, along the hip seams of the garment, also carry the interengageable clasp elements 13, the usual make and break connectors 15 engaging both sets of V clasp elements, in a manner Well understood by those skilled in the art, for the purpose of quickly attaching or detaching the dropseat- 16 to orfrom the adjacent parts or edges of the garment. The upper edge 17 ofthe drop seat l6 is alsodetached from the rear upper ,7 part of the garment. vVhenthe drop seat is detached along its opposing lateral edge sand upper edge of the garment itrcan be pulled down to the position shown in Figure 4. 1
- When the clasp elements 13 and l l arcin terengaged along the hip seams .of the gar:
mentthen thefdrop seat isclosed atthe rear I of the garmentas shown in Figure 3. A belt ,1
I 12} of conventionalconstruction ,is palssedf through theusual belt loops 15 secured along the front part at the waist line of the garment and extends aroundso vas :to girdle vthe "rear part of the garment, and herethe belt over V laps the upper edge 17 of the drop seat '16.
The terminal 22 of the beltpasses through and is releasably attached to the usual buckle 21, Whose tongue projects ladjustably' through any of the usual holes formed in the belt, 12 designates the'us'ual pockets of the q garment. -Hooks 1-8 -are ,carried upon the I 3 seat 16, in such a mannerthat their bills are outer face ofithe upper edge 17 ofthe drop spaced out of contact with the drop seat providing guides for the rear portion 190; of the. belt as shoWnin'Figure So it Willbe seen that in addition to supporting or retaining the front portion ofthe belt'atthe frontr'of the a Waist line of thegarment, againstsagging,'the
drop seat itself has its hooks removablyen gaged over the upperr'ea'r edge of the belt so girdling position.-
