Description

A. 1.. BREWER Dec. 13, 1932.
PAD HOLDER Filed NOV. 29, 71930 gwue'ni'oz J2 Zz'Ce L; Ere 3M??? 5311 M Patented Dec. 13, 1932 PATENT? 1 OFFICE .ALIGE L. BREWER, OF EAST HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT PAD HOLDER,
Application filed November 29; 1930. Serial No. 499,118.
This invention relates to improvements in pad holders, particularly adapted for being employed in connection with bridge tables and comprises a clamping member adapted to be removably-secured to atable top or the like and hingedl-y secured to the clamping member is a pad holder having means for gripping and holding-a writing pad in place and also rovided 011 the pad holder is a pencil hol er whereby the pad holder may be swung from an inoperative position over the edge of the table to its operative position on 'topcof the table in order to be removed from the users or players sight when the same is not being employed.
Heretofore', it has been common practice to provide card table score pads which maybe clamped to the table at the edges thereof and which usually obstruct theusers hands and an arms while playing or while engaged in any portion of the game. The above practice is objectionable, due to the fact that card or game tables are usually small and provided with small table tops and that all ofthe available space is necessary in order .to play comfortably without the danger of tearing,
the coat sleeves or other portions-of the garment by the user while playing the game.
' The above ObJQCtiODS and disadvantages 3b are overcome by'providinga card pad holder which maybe readily moved or swung from an operative position to an inoperative position whereby the card pad holder is moved from the vision of the player and may be as quickly moved into its position on top of the table while being used.
Otherobject-s and advantages of this invention will become apparent during the Course of the following description, taken A with the drawing, wherein,
Figure 1 is a top clevation-of-a preferred form of the invention showing the clamps for holding the score pad and the pencil holder to one side of the pad holder;
Figure 2 is a side-elevation of the invention as illustrated in Figure 1 showing. the clamps for securing the score pad holder to a table top;
Figure 3' is an end elevation showing the same form of the invention illustrated in Figures 1 and 2, and illustrating in dotted lines the card or score :pad holder moved to its dotted line or inoperative position;
Figure 4 is an end elevation of a modified form of the invention showing a fdifierent type of hinged joint. or means for swinging the card pad holder to its operative and inoperative position;
Figure 5 is a fragmentary side elevation of the same, showing oneof the hinged joints 1 9 secured to one of the clamping members.
Figure 6 is a top elevation partly in section illustrating another form of tllQzlIlVGIltion from that shown in Figures 4 and 5 and further showing the manner in which 5 the card holder is adapted to be secured to a table top;
Figure 7 is an end elevation of another modified form of the invention showing a different type of clamp for engaging the 9' table top and showing a pencil holder carried by the movable score pad clamping device, also illustrating the manner of removal of the score pad from the table by merely sliding sameoff.
