The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for securing hair rolls provided with a locking member to hair clamps.

The known devices for securing hair rolls with locking members to hair clamps require special bearings for the rolls on the clamps while the invention eliminates such bearings to simplify and cheapen production, and connects the roll with theclamp by hooking, the hook being arranged on the roll and provided with a locking member of suitable type and engaging perforated parts disposed in front of the clamp whereby the roll and the clamp are united in a rapid, simple and sure man-- ner while the locking member prevents backward motion of the roll on which the hair is thus wound up immovably.

Compared with existing devices, the ap paratus according to the invention is further fitted with a rotatable frame member with hook carried by a roll so as to hook the small frame and'thus the entire roll to the clamp in an easy and rapid way and permit rotation of the roll by means of the frame member which is provided also with a locking device for limiting rotation to one direction only. The perforations in the metal parts mentioned are disposed in the longitudinal axis of the clamp to permit lateral displacement of the roll relative to the clamp and correct irregularities in the winding of the hair. Below the parts a protective plate is arranged to prevent the hook entering the perforations from hurting the bearer of the clamp. Both ends of the roll may further be provided with profiled rubber parts to increase the resistance of the roll against backward rotation.

One form of the invention is illustrated partly in section and partly in elevation in the accompanying drawing.

Figure 1 shows the hair roll connected with the clamp by means of the hook and ready for operation.

so that the attachment of the roll to the clamp is considerably simplified.

The free end of the roll a as Well as the end 0 fitted with the frame member d are provided with a profiled rubber member 10 so that the free rubber-covered end may hug the outside of the clamp b, which usually consists of rubber also, and thus form a supplementary braking device which prevents the turning back of the roll a.

I claim 1. Apparatus for carrying out the process described, comprising a clamp, a roll, a frame member rotatably arranged on the said roll, a hook forming part of the said frame member and adapted to connect the said roll and clamp, and a two-part locking appliance, one part of the said appli ance being secured to the said roll and the other part to the said frame member to prevent the said roll when in engagement with the said clamp to rotate in more than one direction relative to the said frame member.

2. Apparatus according to claim 1, in which perforated metal parts are positioned in front of the clamp, the perforations corresponding in size to that of the hook of the roll.

4;. Apparatus according to claim 1, in which perforated metal plates are disposed in front of the clamp and a protective plate is arranged below the perforated plates.

5 Apparatus according to claim 1, in wiich perforated metal plates are disposed in front of the clamp and a protective plate is arranged below the perforated plates, the said metal and protective plates acting as bearing and connecting member for the shanks of the clamp.

6. Apparatus according to claim 1, in which both ends of the roll are provided with a profiled rubber member.
