This invention relates to' improvements in eraser holders in whlch the eraser lsfheld in a clamp and in which the .protruding end of the eraser maybe adjusted.

Another object ofmy invention is to provide an eraser holderwhich maybe carried in the pocket without soiling the surfaces or edges of the eraser. A further objectis to provide in the casing a definite sto for the clamp to prevent the eraser from eing under compression when the holder is closed.

These and other objects I attain by the devices illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. 1 is a perspective view of one type pocket eraser in operative osition. Fig. 2 is a perspective view o the same eraser holder in a closed or inoperative position. Figs. 3 and 4 are respective sectional plan and side views of the casing of theeraser holder shown in Figs. 1 v'and 2. Figs. 5 and 6 are respective plan4 and side views ofthe clamp of the eraser holder of Figs'l and 27 without the eraser insert. Fig. 7 is an enlarged cross section of the eraser holder of Fig. 2. Fig. 8 is a partial and enlarged view of Fig. 4. Figs. 9 and 10 are partial and respective side and plan views of a modification of the clamp of Figs. 5 and 6. The eraser holder shown in Figs. 11 and 12 has a cylindrical casing 30, in which is held a clamp 31 with an eraser 32. clamp stop 33 at the closed end of the easing and a project-ion 34 at its open end serve the same purposes as vthose of Fig. 7. Clamp 31 also has two

The function of this holder is exactly like that of the device of Fig. 7 The latter is considered preferable for the reason that a thin rectangular eraser as shown, wlll always retain a sharp edge thus permitting close and clean work.

If the protruding end of the eraser has been shortened through wear, the clips will be slightly spread apart and the eraser pulled YYout to the length desired.

Thel fiat surfaces of both the open and closed ends of the clamp extend a substantial distance from the open end of the casing, and thus permit a person to take hold and extract said clamp. The closed end of the clamp could also be made of a solid piece of metal if so desired, but the hollow form as shown is preferred, to permit the eraser to enter into same as well as to reduce the weight and cost of manufacture of the clamp.

Having-thus fully disclosed my invention, I claim:

1. In an eraser holder a casing, a clamp either end of which is adapted to be entered into said casing, prongs at the open end of said clamp to grip an eraser, a clamp stop at the closed endinside of said casing and projections on the inner walls of said casing at its open end to cause an increase of pressure on an eraser when the latter 1s 1n operative position.

2. 5. In an eraser holder a casing, a clamp either end of which is adapted to be entered into said casing, prongs at the open end of said clamp to grip an eraser, a clamp stop at the closed end inside of said casing and projections on the inner walls of said casing at its open end to narrow the opening of said casing andto permita release of pressure on an eraser While said holder is in a closed condition.

6. In an eraser holder a easing, a clamp either end of which is adapted to be entered into said casing` prongs at the open end of said clamp to vgrip an eraser, and projections on the inner walls of said casing at its open end to narrow the opening of said casing and to permit a release of pressure on an eraser while said holder is in a closed condition.

7. 10. In an eraser holder, a casing, a clamp either end of which is adapted to be entered into said casing, said clamp to retain an eraser, clips having flat surfaces and forming part of said clamp and means forming part of said casing to compress said clamp with an eraser located in a closed condition of said holder.

11. In an eraser holder, a casing, a clamp either end of which is adapted to be entered into said casing, said clamp to retain an eraser adjustable therein Within said clamp, and flat surface ends on said clamp to extend a substantial distance out of said casing both in an open and closed condition.

12. In an eraser holder, a casing, a clamp either end of which is adapted to be entered providel an empty space clamp, said casing being roomy enough to keep an veraser free from outside compression While located in a covered position Within said casing.

14. In an eraser holder, a casing, a clamp u either end of which is adapted to be entered into said casing, said clamp to retain an eraser, and angular surfaces at the open end of said casing, to facilitate entering said clamp with an eraser into said casing.

15. 16. 17. 18. In an eraser holder, a' casing, a clamp either end of which is adapted to be eut-ered into said casing, said clamp to retain an eraser adjustable therein, one of the ends of said clamp to be formed by wall portions to provide an empty space within that end of said clamp.

19.
