Description

/% NVENTIIB:
ATTORNEYS.
N. FEIERS, PHOT'I-LITHOGRAPHER, WASHINGTON. D C
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE JACQUES E. KAEELsEN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN GLAZIERS DIAMOND-HOLDERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent l lo. I 88,058., dated March 6, 1877 application filed January 29, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JAooUEs E. KARELSEN, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented 'a new and Improved Glaziers Diamond-Holder, of which the following is a specification The accompanying drawing represents a side elevation of my improved glaziers diamend-holder.
The object of this invention is to simplify the construction of glaziers diamond-holders in common use in such a manner that they can be made cheaper, and also so as to take up less room in the pocket and the invention consists of the breaker being secured to the handle directly and in line with the axis of the handle and of the swiveled diamondholder.
In the present diamond-holders the breaker is attached to a recessed ferrule, which is secured to the handle, and which carries also the swiveled diamond-holder at the end. This ferrule is made of brass, has to be nicely fitted to the breaker, and has the disadvantage of throwing the breaker forward so as to project beyond the handle and render it inconvenient to carry the same in the pocket.
By my construction the ferrule construction is dispensed with, and a more compact and convenient breaker and diamond-holder produced.
In the drawing, A represents the handle, B the breaker, and G the swiveled socket, of my improved glaziers diamond-holder.
The breaker is secured directly in reliable manner into the handle, and the socket or holder 0 swiveled to the end of the breaker, so that the latter is brought into line with the axis of the handle and holder without projecting beyond the same, and without requiring a separate ferrule.
The construction is thereby simplified, and made cheaper and neater than the old style.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent A glaziers diamond-holder in which the breaker is rigidly attached to handle, while the socket is swiveled to the end of breaker, substantially as shown and described.
JACQUES E. KARELSEN.
