Y Figure 5 is a fragmentary view of a portion of a modified form of barbers garment provided with a modified form ofpocket.
Figure 6 is a horizontal detail lsection of the modified form of pocket taken on lineVI-VI of'Figure 5.- v if Y Figure 7 is a vertical detail section of the modified -form of pocket taken on line As shown on the drawing :--Y f .o The reference numerall lindicates a barber or hair trimming attendant Wearing an improved barbers coat, smoclr or gownpreferablyconstructed `ofV a Washable material. The improved coat is represented as a whole bythe reference numeral2 and may be of any selected design, length or size such as are com- Vmonly furnishedby barber-coat supplyservice companies who rent out the coats and proj' vide laundry service in connection therewith.
The coat 2 may be provided with a beltB or with any-other suitable means such as buttons for the purpose of closing the coat. The improved coat is 'also provided with a plurality of inner and outer sanitary pockets of differ,- ent sizes which are secured in convenient locations on the garments; Thel improved pockets may be of the hidden or exposedvtypo and may be of any desired size and shape. In the present showing anl inner upper pocket and lower outer pockets of the patch or sport Y pocket type are shown. Y Each of thesanitary pockets comprisesa' patch'or piece vof material'4 which is cut out to a. desired shape and isstitched or otherwise securedto eitherthe inner or outerI sides of the body portion of the garment 2 alongthe top edge 5, along one side edge 6 and' along the bottom edge 7.aS clearly illustrated in'Figure 2.v The outer side edge of the pocket has the lower portion 8 thereof stitched to the coat leaving the upper section 9 free from attachment to afford y a side or vertical opening into the interiorof the pocket. If preferred, all of the pockets may be of the inner or enclosed type and are 'accessible through vertical entrancesl'ots provided in selected locations inthe garment- Figures 5, 6 and 7 illustrateV a modified form of the improved barbers'coat, smoclr or gown in which the reference numeral 10 indicates the body portion of a garment having an upper slot 11, a lower slot 12, and a side slot 13 provided therein with the margins of said slots reinforced with braid or tape.l The top and bottom slots 11 and 12 are opposite one another and determine the height of the pocket. The side slot 13 extends upwardly from adjacent one end of the lower slot 12 to a height approximately half the height of the pocket.
The pocket proper comprises a piece of material`14 having the inner longitudinal or side margin thereof stitched or otherwise secured to the body portion 10 of the coat by stitching 15 or'the like. f Formed on the upper margin of the pocket piece 14 is an upper flange or flap lwhich is adapted to be projected upwardly through the upper slot 13 and is attached to the inner side of the garment by meansof buttons 17 or the like. When buttons are used the flap 16 is provided with suitable button holes to permit attachment of the flap. The lower margin of the pocket piece 14 is provided with a lower flange or iap 18 which projects through the lower slot 12 of the garment and is then bent upwardly to close the lower end of the pocket. The flap 18 is provided with button holes to permit the same to be removably attached to buttons 19 secured on theinner side ofthe garment. As clearly illustrated in Figure 5 the pocket piece 14 is also provided with a side angeor flap 20 which projects through the side slot or opening'l and is then bent over to close the lower portion ofthe outer side of the pocket.-
' The iap 20 is providedl with button holes to permit the same tobe buttoned onv buttons 21 secured on the inner side of the garment. The upper portion of the outer side of the pocket piece 14 is provided with an extension or flap which is bent inwardly and stitched to the rear side of the pocket to provide a reinforced margin or hem aording a mout-hpiece or entrance for the improved pocket.
' The hemmed portion 22is provided with button holes 23to permit the upper and lower ends of the mouth-piece of the pocket to be engaged on buttons 24 secured to therouter side of the garment. l Y
It will thus be noted that the modified form of'pocket illustrated in Figure 5 is permanentlyattached to the garment 10 only along the sewed edge 15 thereby adording an arrangement whereby the buttons on the margins or flaps ofthe pocket may be readily unbuttoned or released,V allowing the pocket to be opened or reversed. When the pocket 14 is unbuttoned, the interior ofthe pocket through the vertical side opening thereof@ In the form of barberscoat or garment il- "into the pockets during hairfcuttingor triniming operations. `.Inuthermodified; formfof pocket illustrated in Figure, itrwill be y notedV that the lpocket is also provided with' a vertical side 'opening and in 'addition is l n adapted to be unbuttoned to permitthe pockl SUOSYCFllOed` ou?. names aboutfffGounty?1:1ll1no1s.
