Description
UNITED STATES PATENT ruin,
DANIEL RICHTER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN SAMPLE-CARDS FOR NECK-TIES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 1 86,879, dated January 30, 1877; application filed January 11, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DANIEL RICHTER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Sample-Gard for Neck-Ties, which invention is fully set forth in the following specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure l is a face view of my sample-card when unfolded. Fig. 2 is a similar {16W of the same when ready for use.
Similar letters indicate corresponding parts.
This invention relates to that class of sample-cards now in use for exhibiting neck-ties or bows, in which the card is cut at its upper end with inwardly and upwardly inclined corners, and is provided with a hole for receiving a button, so that a collar which is separate from the card can be arranged on said upper end and connected to the button, the card also having a series of slots for receiving and holding the shields of bows.
This invention consists in a sample-card for bows or neck-ties, one end of which is cut with flaps and a band, which, when folded in the proper manner, produce the shape of a shirtcollar. The ends of this imitation collar are retained by a button or other suitable fastening, which is secured in the body of the sample-card, and which also serves to support a bow or neck-tie in the proper relation toward the collar.
In the drawing, the letter A designates my sample-card, which is made of card-board or thick paper, and one end of which is provided with two flanges, a, a, and with a narrow band, I), as shown in Fig. 1. When thisband is folded down in the dotted line 0, (shown in Fig. 1,) and the flaps are then turned in, as shown in Fig. 2, an imitation shirt-collar is produced. The ends at d of this imitation collar are secured to the body of the card by a button, or other suitable fa'stening,-which is attached to or secured in the card, and which also serves to support -a bow or neck-tie, B.
If desired, the body of my card may be provided with a series of incisions or slits for the support of several more bows or neck-ties below the neck-tie B.
By these means a sample-card is produced which is simple and durable, and which serves to exhibit a bow or neck-tie in the same relation to a shirt-collar which it occupies when the same is worn.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A sample-card for bows or neck-ties, one end of which is cut with flaps a a, and with .a band, b, which, when folded in the proper manner, produce the shape of a shirt-collar, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 30th day of December, 1876.
DANIEL RICHTER.
