This invention relates to an improved slide which provides a smoother and less bulky article when a strap is threaded through it than is provided with the old forms of slides. The slide also enables an economy of material which the strap is made of by means of a clip which is part of the slide and is secured to the end of the strap. My improved slide also enables the quicker and easier assembly of the strap and the slide.
The article also provides a unitary device of a frame and a clip secured together and easily handled for prompt and easy pressing of the clip to fasten it to the strap.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 is a front view of the new form of slide secured in place on a strap. Figure 2 is a side view of F igure 1. Figure 3 is a front view of a slide embodying my invention. Figure 4 is a section on line 4-4 in Figure 3. Figure 5 is .a fragmentary view showing a modified form for fastening the clip to the frame. Figure 6 is a section on line 6-6 in Figure 5.
The slide is particularly adapted for use with apparel. The slide is used in conjunction with a strap 10 which in overalls and the like .is made of denim. It is threaded through the frame and then bent back to form a loop 11 and the end is secured to the clip. In the old form the end of the strap was either folded over an arm on the frame and then stitched or it was threaded through in the reverse direction and left with a loose end. The loop 11 is for the suspension of a button loop or a clasp.
The slide is made up as a frame with three parallel strands. I show a frame made of wire and having a top strand 12, a central strand 13 and abottom strand 14. The frame is not a new feature in itself and any form of strand can be used.
The usual forms are made of wire and I show the frame made of wire square in cross section. The side connecting portions or strands 16 are to prevent undue side movement of the strap in the frame.
The clip 17 is used for securing the free end of the strap -to the slide. It is made of sheet metal bent in a return bend to form a 1931. .Serial No. 526,816.
