This invention relates to bill folds and comprises a receptacle for currency foldable intermediate of its ends and having the inner wall or panel arranged in a novel cooperative relationship to the outer wall or Fig. 11 is a diagrammatic cross sectional view on the line 117-11 of Fig. 7.

Fig. 12 is an inside view of another variation of the bill fold showin the bill fold eX- tended and with portions o the walls of one 55 cover so that the inner wall or panel will of the end pockets removed to disclose other fold smoothly and will not buckle when the device is folded. v

Another object of the invention is to provide a bill fold or receptacle comprising several known equivalent variations of the bill fold or receptacle constituting the subject matter of my prior application forpatent for bill fold or receptacle filed April 18, 1929, Serial No. 356,005.

` Other objects will appear fromi the following description, reference being made to the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 is an inside view of the bill fold extended or unfolded.

Fig. 2 is a similar view with portions of the walls of the end pockets removed to show the inner panel and an appropriate means for securing the inner panel in proper position. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal diagrammatic sectional view approximately on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.

In the embodiment of the invention shown in Figs. 1 to 6, inclusive, my improved bill fold or receptacle comprises a section `1 of 90 flexible material such as leather or othermaterials adapted for these uses and made of a size suliicient to form the outside of the bill fold. f Against the inner side of the section 1 two

2 and 3 are laid 95 and have.theirouter or end edges even with the end edges of the member 1 and their lower edges approximately even with the lower longitudinal edge of the member 1. The member 2 1s folded outwardly upon itself along a 10o fold line 4 which is slightlybelow the upper edge of the member 1. he outer folded portion of the member 2 as shown is cut out to form an open frame 5, the opening through which is closed by transparent window 6. Either or both sides of the member 1 may be finished or either side may be unlinished and have a finished surface forming member affixed thereto. The end and lower edges Iof the member 2 and also the end and lower edges of the frame 5 are attached to the member 1 by fastening means such as stitches 7.

The member 3 is folded outwardly upon itself along a line 8 which is slightly below the upper edge of the memberdl and in longitudinal alinement with the upper edge 4of the member 2. The outer end and lower longitudinal edges ofthe member 3 and the outwardly folded portion 9 thereof are attached to each other and to the member 1 bysuitable fastening means as by stitches 10.

A pocket forming partition 11 is mounted for sliding movements in the pocket 12 formed by the folded portions 3 and 9. The

member 11 is flexible but is characterizedby suliicient stiffness so that it may be easily pushed 'back into the pocket without folding or buckling after having been withdrawn. A piece of flexible material 13, which may be made of a piece of cloth, has its innerportion folded to enclose the inner end of the member 11 and has its end edge attached to said member 11 by fastening vmeans 14, which may be. glue. The member 13 extends outwardly to attachment at 15 with a resilient member 16 mounted on the inside of the part 9 and having its outer edge attached thereto by stitches 17. The outer end of the member 11 is extended to provide a tab 18 which may be folded to close 'the pocket 19 formed between said member and the parts 13 and 16. A tongue and loop device 20 is provided for holding the tab 18 in closed position. A foldable panel 21 has its edge extending into the pocket 22 between the member 2 and the frame and window devices 5-6. The anel 21 is attached to the edge of the mem r 22 by fastening means 23. The panel 21 extends across the fold line of the device and into the pocket between the member 3 and the member 11. To the end of the panel 21 a flexible section 24 of cloth or the like extends to the end of the device and is engaged and secured by the stitches 10. It is plain enough that when the device 1s folded and irrespective of the number of pieces of currency or papers that may be contained in the ocket formed between the member 1 and t e members 2 and 3, the panel 00 21 will fold properly and will not buckle material 25 forming the outer wall'of a long because it is freely slidable.

In the variation of the invention shown in Flgs. 7 to 11, inclusive, the bill fold oomprises an outer section of appropriate flexible pocket 26. To one end and to the lower longitudinal edge of the member 25 a wall forming member 27 is attached by stitches 28. The wall forming member 27 is folded outwardly to provide an outer wall 29, the eend, and lower longitudinal edge of which are engaged by the stitches 28. Between the walls 27 and 29 a pocket forming wall 30 is secured, the end thereof being engaged by the stitches 28 at the end of the device. The outer end of the member 30 is extended' to provide a foldable tab 31 equipped with a tongue 32 for engagement with a loop 33 .'on the outer side of the wall 29.

To the opposite end of the member 25 a wall forming panel 34 is attached by stitches 35. The opposite end of the panel 34 extends between the

27 and 30 and has its ends connected with a foldable section 36 of fabric or the like which is engaged and secured by the stitches 28 atthe end but not along the lower marginal ed e.

A frame 37 is engagedby t e stitches 35 at its outer end' andgby a row of 'stitches 38 at its inner end and by stitches 39 at its lower longitudinal edge which are a continuationof lthe stitches 35 and 38. lThe stitches 39 also engage the lower ed e of the panel 34.', This leaves a pocket 40 ormed between the anel 34 the frame 37 and the transparent w'inido'w 41 which is attached to said frame.'

In the variation of the vinvention shown in Figs. 12 to 17, inclusive,.the bill-fold comprises a section 42 forming the outside of the bill fold. To one end of and to the lower longitudinal edge of the member42 a wall forming member 43 is secured by stitches 44 and is folded outwardly uponitself to provide an outer wall 45. A pocket wall forming member 46 extends between the

43 and 45 and has its end engaged by the stitches 44 at the end of the device and is provided on its outer end with a foldabletab 47 equipped with a tongue 48 for engagement with a loop 49 on the member 45. i

A panel comprising a narrow4 inner end portion 50 and a wide end portion 51 has the wide outer end portion thereof attached to the inner side of the member 42 by stitches 52 running across the end ofthe wide portion 51 and across the lower longitudinal edge thereof but leaving the upper edge of said panel detached so as to form. an open pocket 53. The inner end of the narrow portion 50 of this anel projects for free sliding movements etween the

43 and 46 so as to permit the bill fold to be folded without buc ling the part 50. A frame 54 is engaged by the stitches 52 and has its inner end secured to the panel portion 51 by stitches 55, leaving the upper edge of said frame de- ItaChed. A transparent window 56 is secured 1n the frame 54 and cooperates therewith to form a pocket 57.

In the variation of the invention shown 50 thereto a tongue 80 for engagement ina loop in Figs. 18, 19 and20 an outer section 58 has attached to one end thereof a-wall forming member 59. This member 59 is folded outwardly upon itself to provide a wall 62, the outer end and lower longitudinal edges of which are attached to the member 58 and 59 by stitches 60. A wall forming member 63 projects between the folds-59 and 62 and is engaged by the stitches 60 at the end of the device. The inner end of the member 62 is folded to form a tab 64 equipped with a tongue 65 for engagement with a loop 66 on the wall 62.

A pocket forming wall 69 is laid against the outer side of the panel 67 and is engaged by the stitches 68 along its outer end and lower longitudinal edge, and by stitches 70 along its inner end, leaving the upper edge of said part 69 detached to form a pocket between said part 69 and the panel 67. A frame 71, having a transparent window 72 therein, has its edges engaged by the stitches 68 and 7 O leaving the upper edge of said frame detached to form an open pocket.

The opposite end of the panel 67 extends between the walls 59 and 63 and is connected with the end of the bill fold by a flexible member 7 3 engaged by the stitches 60 at the `end of the ydevice but not along its lower marginal edge. Thus the panel 67 is free to slide so that it will not buckle when the deytes' vice is` folded.

In the variation shown in Figs. 21 to 23, inclusive, the outer section 74 has attached to one end thereof awall forming member 7 5 which is folded outwardl at its upper edge to provide an. outer wall 76. The outer` Aand lower longitudinal edges of the parts 7 5.-7 6 are@ engaged and secured to the member. 74 by stitches 77. lBetween the walls 75-76 a wall forming member 78 is located and has its outer end engaged by the stitches 77. The outer end and lower longitudinal edges of the parts 82 and 83 are Vattached to each other and to the member 74 by stitches 84, leaving the inner ends of the parts^-82and 83 detached to form an open pocket 85. To the inner end ofthe member, two pocket wall members each less than one-half the length of said outer wall member folded downwardly and outwardly upon themselves and each having its outer 4and lower longitudinal edges secured to an end and the lower longitudinal edge of said outer wall member and each forming an inwardly open pocket, an additional wall member having one end secured to the inner end of one of said pocket wall members and having its opposite end telescoping in the op-v posite pocket, anda flexible element connecting the telescoped end of said last named wall member with the outer end of said pocket.

A bill fold comprising an outer wall member, a pair of pocket wall members each less than one-half the length of the outer wall member and folded downwardly and outwardly upon themselves and each having its outer and lower longitudinal edges secured 'to an end and to the lower longitudinal edge of said outer wall member and each form-` ing an inwardly open pocket, an additional i wall member of less width than the other of said wall members having one end attached to the inner end of one of said pocket wall members and having its opposite end extend? ing into the other pocket and terminating short of thebottom of said pocket, and a flexible element connecting said additional wall member with the bottom of said pocket into which said additional wall member extends.
