Description

J. D.- ROSENBERGER HORSE-CREEPERS.
No.185,700. Patented Dec. 26, 1876. FIC..1
FIGB
Wham. efirc'lzr w/zwy THE GRAPHIC C0- N.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN D. ROSENBERGER, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT lN HORSE-CREEPERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 185,700, dated December 26, 1876; application filed J annary 31, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, JOHN D. ROSENBERG-ER, of the city and county of Philadelphia, in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Horse-Creepers, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to clasps at the opposite sides of the shoe. They are formed of sheet metal and fit the under side of the shoe, and are bent at their edges to lap over the front edge of the shoe, and around its edge and upper corner, and are provided with straps for drawing them toward the front of the hoof, whereby they are drawn tightly upon the shoe and hoof, as hereinafter fully described.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a side view of a hoof having the improved creeper in connection with it and the shoe. Fig. 2 is a front view of the same. Fig. 3 is a cross-section through one of the clasps O and the shoe B.
Like letters of reference in all the figures indicate the same parts.
A is a hoof of a horse, B the shoe, and O U clasps confined thereto by means of straps D D. The clasps are made of sheet metal,
and fit against the under side of the shoe, and have their front edge bent so as to fit the outer edge of the shoe and the contiguous part of the hoof, and the inner edge is bent to b fit the inner edge of the shoe, and to lap around the upper corner of the same, as seen in Fig. 3, and when the straps D D are drawn around the front of the hoof, as seen in Fig. 2, as the shoe in its cross-section increases in width toward the front the clasps are tightened upon the shoe, and their front edges are drawn tightly upon the inclined sides of the hoof. Projecting from the under side of the clasps are spurs a, which are riveted or otherwise fastened thereto.
If desired, a rod, permanently secured at one end to one of the clasps, and the other end having ascrew-thread and passed through an eye of the other clasp, and provided with a nut, may be used instead of the straps D, or any other suitable device may be used instead of the straps.
I claim as my invention The curved clasps O 0, provided with spurs a a. and straps D D, and having their inner edges so bent as to fit the inner edge and upper corner of the shoe, and their outer edges to fit the outer edge of the shoe and the contiguous part of the hoof, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
JOHN D. ROSENBERGER.
