Description
April 12, 1932. STORER- AQVERTISING DEVICE Filed May 19, 1931 our wnBran INVENTOR, fiz'oharcl Henry Stow-e1:
ATTORNEY.
Patented Apr. 12, 1932 stars OFFICE ADVERTISING DEVICE Application filed May 19, 1931. Serial No. 538,466.
My invention relates to improvements in advertising devices, and has for an object to provide a display card with sharp brads for impaling in window and door casings, shelving and the like, for mounting. the card in conspicuous places.
Another object of my improvement is to provide a laminated block of cardboard, straw board, or the like, including said display card and a sharpened staple therewith,
for a substantial base to the device.
Another object of my improvement is to shape said base and card simulating familiar objects connected with showing and giving and to print on the card a picture of the particular articles of merchandise being thus advertised.
Other objects of my improvement will appear as the description proceeds.
I attain these and other objects of my improvement with the device illustrated in the accompanying sheet of drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of the obverse side of one form of my advertising devices, Fig. 2 is the reverse side of Fig. 1, Fig. 3 is a side elevation of the base block, and Fig. 4 is a sectional view of Fig. 3 on the line H.
Similar characters refer to similar parts throughout. Certain parts are broken away to show other parts hidden thereby.
With more particular reference to the designated parts: Two pieces of card board, straw board, or the like, 5, 5, over the front ends of which had been folded strips of, preferably, white paper 10, are placed side by side with one end of display card 6 and sharpened staple 7 intervening. This assembly is firmly clamped and fastened together by driving therethrough small wire staples 9, 9, etc. and
clinching the same on the opposite side, taking care that several of said staples embrace sharpened staple 7 Staple 7 is set in place in the block with the sharpened ends 8, 8
thereof protruding from the rear edge of said block as shown. When thus assembled and fastened it has been found in practice that the said laminated block provides a base for the device well suited for the objects sought.
Over said base block preferably is folded a strip 11 of colored paper having its lower edges glued together at 12. lVhen made as described the base, in side elevation, resem bles the lower part of a forearm and wrist 6 clothed with sleeve 11 and cuff 10. 5
As illustrated, said display card is shaped like a hand 13 holding an opened carton of butter 14 therein and on both the obverse and reverse sides thereof is preferably printed to resemble the front of said hand.
7 Made in the above-desoribed manner, or in another way with substantially the same results, my device is well suited for fastening overhead in conspicuous places as on wooden structure A, by sticking points 8, 8 therein as shown Having thus disclosed my invention, what I claim asnew therein and desire to secure by Letters Patent is,
1. An advertisingdevice of the kind described, including an assembly of two pieces of card board facing each other, one end of a display card, a sharpended staple disposed with said display card between said pieces of card board having the sharpened staple ends protruding from said card board and means to fasten said assembly together.
2. An advertising device of the kind described, including an assembly of two pieces of card board facing each other, one end of a display card, a' sharpened staple disposed with said display card between said pieces of card board having the said sharpened ends of the staple protruding from said card board, I small wire staples driven through said pieces of card board and intervening materials and clinched, and a paper sleeve around said assembly.
' 3. An advertising device of the kind described including a card shaped and printed to resemble a hand holding the pictured merchandise being advertised thereby, plates of reinforcing straw board fastened fiatwise together with the wrist of said hand intervening, and sharpened staples fastened between 9 said straw board plates having the sharpened ends thereof protruding in the plane of said card.
