The invention com rehends a safety razor post with the clamping plate relatively to the which may be quic y and readil cleaned sleeve wlth the guard ate, and after using without taking the sa ety razor Flgure 7 is a view i lustrating a modified apart, form of the invention.
The invention further comprehends a By referring to the drawings it will be seen 56 safety razor, the parts of which may be that the clamping plate or member 10 has a quickly and readily disassembled and assemhollow post 11 w1th two sets of outlet openbled by the user without danger of the user lngs, one set of the outlet openings bein recutting his fingers or hand. ferred to by the reference character 12 and ex- The invention further comprehends a tending downwardly and outwardly, andthe safety razor having an opening through which other set of outlet openings being referred to air may be blown to remove moistureor forby the reference character 13 and extending eign matter which may cling to the razor or upwardly and outwardly. The drawings the razor blade. v show four outlet openin s 12 and four out- The invention further comprehends a 4 let openings 13, but it wi lbe understood that 65 safety razor having a hollow ost with lateral one, two or more outlet openings' 12 and one, openings so that when the c amping plate is two or more outlet opemngs 13 may be emspaced from the guard plate of the safety ployed, as maylbedeemed expedient. razor air may be lown through the hollow The hollow postl'l is disposed in a sleeve post and out of the lateral openings to re- 14, a guard member or plate 15 being secured 7 move moisture and foreign matter from a to this sleeve 14, as best illustrated in Figure razor blade disposed between the plates, as 3 of the drawings, and a razor blade 16 bein well as from the plates. disposed between t he clamping plate an The invention furthermore comprehends a the guard plate in thev customary manner. safety razor having means to secure a clamp- The hollow post 11 is threaded and prefer- 75 ing plate relatively to a guard plate with a ably this thread is an inner thread, as shown razor blade therebetween, which will revent at 17, an auxiliary hollow ost 18 having an unexpected slipping of. the parts re atively outer thread 19 meshing wit the inner thread to each other. 17 in the hollow post 11. This auxiliary hol- Additional objects of the invention will aplow post 18 has at its outer end an outwardly 80 'pear in the following specification in which extending shoulder 20 engagin the outer"end the preferred form of the invention is deof the sleeve 14, the said shoul er 20 forming scribed. a part of the enlarged ,end 21 of the auxiliary In the drawings similar reference c harhollow post 18, which has a milled outer sur- 5 acters refer to similar parts in all the vlews, face which may be readily gripped between 35 of which the lingers so that the auxiliary hollow post Figure 1 is an end elevation of the safety 18 may be rotated relatively to the hollow razor, post 11 to press the sleeve 14 with its guard Fi re2is a sectional view on the line 2-2 plate 15 in the direction of the clamping 40 of Figure 1, plate 10. 90
Figure 3 is a sectional view von the line 3-3 It will be understood that the razor blade of Figure 2, 16 may be mounted on the hollow post 11 with Figure 4 1s a sectional view on the line 4-4 the studs 23 on the clamping plate 10 extendof Figure 2, lng through the openings 24 in the razor Fi re 5 is a perspective view illustratm blade. This may be readily done and the 95 the cilmping plate with the hollow post an hollowpost 11 may then bel in serted in the showing the outlet openings in the hollow sleeve 14, after which the auxlliary hollow ost 18 may be rotated to lock the auxiliary ollow post 18 relatively to the hollow post 11 poligure 6 is a side elevation of the auxiliary hollow post which serves to hold the hollow and to press theA sleeve 14 downwardly so that 10 the guard plate 15 will press the razor blade 16 into position where the razor blade will be locked. It will be seen that there is ractically no danger of the user cutting his ngers inasmuch as it is merely necessary todispose the razor blade on the clamping plate 10 when the razor blade may be locked in position without the user touching the razor blade, the clamping plate 10 or the guard plate 15.
When the user has shaved and when he is desirous of cleansing the razor the auxiliary hollow post 18 i-s rotated relatively to the sleeve 14 by the means provided', which will rotate the auxiliary hollow post 18 vrelatively to the hollow ost 11 and in this waypermit the razor bla e 16 to assume a position relatively to the clamping plate 10, as illustrated in Figure 3 of the drawings, when the guard plate 15 may be moved from above.I When this has been done, it will be seen by referring to Figure 3 of the drawings, that the blade will-assume a position substantially medially of the outlets 12 and 13 which latter will direct a column of-air forced through the auxiliary hollow' post 18 and the hollow post l1 against the upper and lower sides of the razor blade. This air may be blown through the auxiliary hollow dpost 18 and the hollow post the user an the air will serve to remove foreign matter and moisture which may remain on the razor blade, the clamping plate and the guard plate after the parts have been washed under the faucet. When this has been done the auxiliary hollow post 18 mayl be again turned home to clamp the sleeve 14 with .the guard plate 15 against the razor blade 16 and in close proximity to the'clampin plate 10.
t will be seen by referring to Figures 2 and 3 of the drawings that the bottom 25 of the opening in the hollow post 11 has sides that diverge upwardly to directthe air current to the outlets 13. It will also be seen by referring to Fi re 1 of the drawings that the sleeve is mille to assist in handling.
In the modified form of the invention illustrated in Figure 7 of the drawings, the hollow p ost 26 has an `external thread which meshes with the inner thread on the sleeve 27,
What isA claimed is:
1. A razor having a hollow post and two plates, the hollow vpost having two converging outlets for directing air currents to opposite sides of a razor blade normally disposed between'the plates.
2. .A razor having a hollow post and two plates, the hollow post having two converging outlets for directing air currents to opposite sides of a razor blade normally disposed betweenthe plates, and means in the hollow post for directing the air to one of the outlets.
3. A razor having two curved substantially parallel plates for curving and clamping a razorblade therebetween, a sleeve on one of the plates, and a hollow post 'on the other plate disposed! in the sleeve, the hollow post aving one or moreoutlets, all of which are normall closed by the sleeve, the outlet being opened y a movement of the sleeve with its plate so that a fluid may be directed through v 4. Arazor havin a sleeve with a plate 4mounted thereon, a ollow post disposed in the sleeve with a companion plate, the hollow post being provided with one or more outlets, all of which are positioned adjacent a plate to direct Van air current a ainst the surface or surfaces of 'a razor bla e and means for securing the hollow post and the sleeve relatively to each other.
5. A razor havin a sleeve with a plate mounted thereon, a ollow post disposed in the sleeve with a companion plate, the hollow post being provided with one or more outlets, all of which are positioned adjacent one of the plates to direct an air current against a surface or surfaces of a razor blade, the hollow post being provided with a threaded ortion and a hollow threaded member mes ing with the thread on the post and engaging the sleeve for holding the plates relavday of June, 1930, A.
