In practice it is obvious that the devices 9 are to be screwed or otherwise fastened to the window frame in the relative parallel positions represented in Figure 1. When applying or removing draperies the slides 15 are dropped down to the dotted line position represented in this same figure. At this elevation, the pins 18 and 19 are readily accessible to permit expeditious attachment and detachment of the curtain rods 7 and 8.
With the curtains and rods attached the slides 15 can be elevated into full l ne position represented in Figure 1. In accomplishing this result the finger grips 17 are grasped in such a way as to spring the lower end portion of the slide in each instance to the dotted line position represented in Figure 3 and to snap the retaining detent into the keeper socket 21. p
When the slides are completely elevated. thereof extend through and slightly beyond the maintenance bracket or strap 22. Consequently, dependability and rigidity is insured with an arrangement of this type and it becomes entirely unnecessary for the user to mount a ladder or to stand on a chair or other uncertain support in hanging draperies.
It is thought that the description taken 1n connection with the drawings will enable a clear understanding of the invention to be had. Thereforeya more lengthy dGSCI'lPtTOl'l is thought unnecessary.
While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been shown and described, it is to be understood that minor changes coming within the field of invention claimed may be resorted to, if desired.
I claim:
:1. In a structure of the class described in combination, a slidable plate mountable on a window frame, a curtain rod bracket carried b the upper end portion of said plate, said plate having a beveled upper end, retaining and attaching means on said window frame adapted to raised and a U-shaped frictional retainer se- 1 slidingly accommodate the plate cured 'upon the window frame'above the upper end of the said means, adapted to receive the upper end of the plate when said endis deflected therein by the action of its bevel with the said retainer upon extreme upward movement of the plate. p
Y 2. 'A window frame attachment of the class described comprising a longitudinally elongated guide element includin an attaching plate having spaced parallel compleguide element in extreme up position, and a U-shaped frictional retainer mounted on the window frame above the upper end of the guide element adapted to receive the upper end of the slide deflected therein by the extreme upward movement of the plate so as to maintain the slide against shifting and rattling.
- 3. A window frame attachment of the class described comprising a longitudinally elongated guide element including an attaching plate having spaced parallel complemental guide channels, a slide mounted for adjustment in the attaching plate in the guide channels and means coacting between the slide and its plate to maintain the slide in an up position, the slide in its extreme upward position being extended beyond the end of the attaching plate, and a U-shaped frictionalretainer mounted on the window frame above the upper end of the attaching plate adapted to receive the upper end of its slide when in' the extreme up position and maintain the slide against shifting and rattling, the upper end of the slide being upwardly beveled from the front face thereof to the rear face for deflecting the said upper end of the slide upon entryof the slide in the said U- shaped frictional retainer so that the slide is maintained against shifting and rattling in its extreme upward position.
