Description
I I; n. DYMOND. SEWINGMACHINE CHAIRS.
Patented Dec. 5.. 1876.,
No.185,0Z1.

UNITED STATES PATENT, OFFIoEO I JOSHUA-H. DYMOND, OF PERRY, KANSAS.
IMPROVEMENT IN SEWING-MACHINE CHAIRS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. l85,02l, dated December 5, 1876 application filed September 21, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be-it known that I, JOSHUA H. DYMOND, of the city of Perry, county of Jefferson, and
State of Kansas have invented a new and three supports, A AA, to stop the extra back B B when pressed back to them; the extra back B B, consisting of the two supports B B, attached to the seat by two hinges, E E; the two elastic straps D D, and the cross-bar O. The supports A A A are inserted at equal distances apart at the back edge of the seat, and in the upper cross-bar of the back, as shown in the drawing. The supports of the extra back B B are attached to the seat by the hinges E E, so as to have an unobstructed motion forward, and the elastic straps D D are attached at the upper end of the supports B B at F F, and to the seat at F F, drawing the back forward with an unvarying motion or power. These straps are supplied with buckles G G, by which the straps can be shortened and the power increased at the will of operator. The seat 0 and the cross-bars O O O are cushioned. I
As the person using the chair leans back, the extra back B B will be pressed back to the supports A A A, where it will rest in line with the other crossbars G 0 above, making a continous support for the whole back, and when the person leans forward the elastic straps D D will draw the back B B forward, so as to form a continual support to the small of the back, thus forming a rest'that is always in place where it is needed most.
I claim as my invention-- The elongated seat, the three supports A A A, the extra back B B, and the attachments of the elastic straps D D, the buckles G G, and thehinges E E, as andfor the purpose set forth.
JOSHUA H, DYMOND.
