This invention relates to new and useful improvements in heating devices for use upon and in conjunction with burners and furnaces of different types. I

An object of the invention comprehends a bafiie plate separating the burner and water compartments of the heating apparatus.

Another object of the invention contemplates a flue pipe for the burner compartment being so disposed as to absorb the utmost heat from the gases as discharged therethrough.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention further consists in the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claim.

In the drawings Figure 1 is an elevation of my invention.

Referring more particularly to the drawings in detail, wherein like characters and references denote corresponding parts, the reference character 2% denotes the housing of the heater as provided with a head 25 upon its upper end and adapted to be heated by coal,

therefore, necessitating the employment of grates 26.

A substantially inverted frusto-conical shaped baflie plate 26 having connection at its upper enlarged end with the shoulder por tion, as defined between the housing proper and the head 25 therefor, is adapted to dispose the lowermost smaller end thereof above the grates 26. A flue pipe 27, having connection with the periphery of the lowermost end of the baffle plate 26, is extended upwardly 40 therethrough in the manner illustrated in Figure 2 of the drawings and through the top of the head or dome-shaped member 25.

28 and 29 for the heating system, not shown, are adapted for connection with the dome-shaped member 25 and the baffle plate 26 in the manner shown. In the modification, a coil, such as indicated at 30, may be employed to line the inner side walls of the flue pipe 27 and having connection through the flue pipe at its ends with the water compartment above the inner side walls of the baflie plate 26. Water within the aforementioned compartment and introduced into the coils 30 will be heated by the gases emitted through the'flue pipe 27 Sight gauges and pressure gauges may also be included upon'th'e modification.

From the foregoing description and accompanying drawings, it is noted that the heating devices disclosed may be heated with oil, gas, coal, wood or electricity. The baflle plates are constructed in different shapes to provide superheating devices by means of which the fuel gases, which are ordinarily drawn through fines and chimneys, are employed to heat the walls of the baffle plates and coils if included thereon.

The invention is susceptible of various changes in its form, proportions and minor details of construction and the right is herein reserved to make such changes as properly fall within the scope of the ap ended claim.

Having thus described theinvention, what is claimed is V A water heater comprising a housing including a dome having a closed top wall, a sight gauge establishing external connection between the dome and housing, a substantially inverted frusto-conical shaped bafile plate formed integral with the top edge of the housing and projecting downwardly therein from the juncture of the association of the dome therewith, a flue pipe formed integral with the lower reduced end of the bafiie plate and projecting upwardly and centrally within the baflie plate and through the closed top wall of the dome, a coil wholly disposed within the flue pipe and having the ends thereof projected through the flue pipe for communication with the chambers defined by the dome and baflie plate.
