As the openings 35, 35 of the dispenser 1S and the openings 36, 36 of the delivery'member 25 are in nonealignment under normal conditions, no powder can escape. .vVhen' powder is desired the operating member 27 is pushed inwardly and as the powder is pressed upwardly by the spring operated plate 13, a portion of the powder will be forced through the aligned openings and as the dispenser 18 is moved still further across the device its unperforated portions will out off this extended powder and make it avallable for use with the powder puff 37. Upon the releaseof the operating member 27, the spring 21 will return the dispenser to ts original position. From the drawings it will be seen that the walls of the perforations 36 in the cover 25 are bevelled in a manner to' assist in scooping up powder forced through the openin as in the I dispenser plate 18 and onto the cover 25. These openings have their opposite sides bevelled so asto scoop up powder with movement of the dispenser plate in either direction. Another lmportant advantage of these bev-' elled edges is to allow the powder puff to take up powder from this bevelled portion of the cover as well as from thecflat top of the cover 25. In this way practically all loose powder fed through the dispenser plate is taken up so that substantially none is left on either the dispenser or cover.
It will thus be seen that my invention presents a powder container in which the powder is completely retained when the device is not in use and in which during use a small amount of powder is forced outwardly and cutoff from the main powder mass and thus presented for application. r
It will be further noted that the amount of powder expelled through each opening of the delivery member is small, being practically that which is massed between the openings of the dispenser and the under face of the d?- livery plate, these masses being moved by the act-ion of the dispenser into alignment with the openings of the delivery plate and forced therethrough by the, pressure of the plate 13 upon the main mass of powder.
The powder in my device, therefore, is prevented from escape when it is not in use, and a small amount of it is expelled by each mov ment of the dispensing member.
From Figs. 4 and 5 of the drawings it may be seen that the dispenser plate 18 moves from the position shown in Fig. 5 through a position in which the perforations of both plates 18 and 25 are open, to a position in which the perforations of both plates are closed, on continued movement of the dispenser plate.
