Description

TWISTING APPARATUS FOR RING SPINNING FRAMES Filed May 20, 1930 mhwru Patented Mar. 1, 1932 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE EMIL WENZEL, OF AUE/ERZGEBIRGE, GERMANY, ASSIGNOR TO mm ERNST GESSNER,
AKTIENGESELLSGHAFT, OF AUE/ERZGEBIBGE, GERMANY TWIS'IING APPARATUS FOR RING SPINNING FRAMES Application filed May 20, 1930, Serial No. 454,113, and in Germany February 28, 1980.
My invention relates to improvements in twisting apparatus for ring spinning frames.
In spinning tubes of ring spinning frames for worsted yarn a preliminary twist is imparted to the fibre material to be stretched by means of a needle carried by the tube. The said needle is in contact with a relatively fixed part causing the twisting by dragging, and in constructions now in use the needle is close to the line of contact of the rollers taking the thread from the tube. Thereby the point of the needle and the rollers are subject to wear, because the pressure of the needle on the rollers must be accurately adjusted, particularly when spinning fine counts of yarn.
The object of the improvements isto provide an apparatus in which the needle is out of contact with the said rollers, and with this object in view I provide a member separate from the rollers which engages the needle for pressing the yarn thereon, the said member preferably being in the form of an elastic plate mounted so that it can be readily replaced with another plate, and that it can be readily adjusted relatively to the needle,
the said plate having the necessary dragging effect causing the yarn to'be uniformly placed around the needle.
For the purpose of explaining the invention an example embodying the same has been illustrated in the accompanying draw ing showing the tube and associated parts partly in section.
In the example shown in the figure the apparatus comprises a pair of rollers Z and z and a whorl 'w carrying a needle 8 for twisting the yarn. The said needle 8 is flattened at opposite sides, as is indicated at g, and it is carried by an elastic eye 0 adapted to be clamped on an annular rib n formed on the whorl w. r The needle sis disposed coaxially of the whorl and perpendicularly to the plane of the eye 0. In the example shown in the figure the member acting on the preliminarily twisted fibrous material 7 for draggingthe same consists of an elastic plate 12 fixed by means of a screw '0 to the bracket 1', so that it can be readily removed for mounting another plate on the bracket. The free end e of the plate p engages the needle with light pressure so as to arrest the yarn f upon each rotation of the whorl sufiiciently to cause the fibrous material 7' to be wound around-the needle 8 thus insuring twisting of the thread. Thus the needle'is out of engagement with the rollers Z and z.
I claim:
1. The herein described twisting apparatus for ring spinning frames, comprising a rotary spinning tube carrying a twisting needle, a pair of rollers for taking the yarn from said tube and out of contact with said needle, and a relatively fixed member in position for pressing the fibrous material on said needle.
2. The herein described twisting apparatus for ring spinning frames, comprising a rotary spinning tube carrying a twisting needle, a pair of rollers for taking the yarn from said tube and out of contact with said needle, and a relatively fixed elastic plate located between one of said rollers and said needle and adapted to hold the fibrous material on said needle sufliciently for causing the same to be wound around the needle.
3. The herein described twisting apparatus for ring spinning frame, comprising a rotary spinning tube formed with a coaxial rib, a needle having an elastic annular base in clamping engagement with said rib, and a pair of rollers in position for taking the yarn from said needle.
4. The herein described twisting apparatus for ring spinning frames, comprising a rotary spinning tube carrying a coaxial needle having its end flattened at opposite sides, relatively fixed means positioned for yieldably engaging the yarn to press the latter on the needle and rollers for taking the yarn from said needle.
In testimony whereof I. hereunto aflix my signature. I EMIL WENZEL
