IMPROVEMENT IN EXTENSION-TABLE SLIDE S.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 184.648.
dated November 21, 1876; application filed September 23, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Louis MENZER, of
Goodrich, in the county of Genesee and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Extension Table Slides; and 1 do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exactdescription thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to the lettersof reference marked thereon, which form part of this specification.
The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a slide for extensiim-tables, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which-- Figure 1 is a perspective View of my inven tion. Fig. 2 isa longitudinal section, and Fig. 3 an end view, of the same.
Each of my table-slides is made of five pieces of wood, A A, B, and O O. The top and bottom pieces A A are out each with a V shaped groove along one edge, and in these grooves are placed the center piece B and end pieces 0 (J, the whole being united together by means of three bolts, a, and nuts b, the heads of said bolts and the nuts being deeply countersunk in the top and bottom rails AA, and not projecting beyond the outer faces thereof.
The pieces B and G 0, when placed in the grooved rails A A, should have the grain of the wood reversed, thereby preventing shrinkage. I
No glue is used in this slide, but the parts are fastened together by the bolts, so that, if necessary, the slide can be taken apart, and when fastened together it is much stronger and more durable.
At eachend ot' the slide, on opposite sides, is attached a piece, I), having V-shaped grooves along both edges and inserted between the rails A A, one-half of each piece D projecting beyond the rails A to slide in the adjoining slide. These-piecesl) may be made art of the pieces 0, or be made separate and bolted to the slide.
Having thus fully described my invention, what 1 claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The within-described extensiontable slide, consisting of the top and bottom rails A A, having longitudinal V-shaped grooves, the connecting-pieces B and U U, the pieces DD, having V-shaped grooves on both edges, and the bolts a, with nuts I), for uniting the parts, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
my own I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
LOUIS MENZER.
Witnessesz' JOHN WEST,
I. P. ROBERTS.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as I
