am@ Ms i ATTORNEYS UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE HAROLD L. HART, OF GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN METAL CABINET' Application led May 24, 1930. Serial No. 455,176.
The objects of the invention are: view from the interior of the corner of the First, to improve generally the instal base. framework of such a cabinet or show case. Fig. 7 is a detail perspective view of the Second, to provide an improved metal separated metal base frame.

These side rails and ends are made details and economies of construction and up of a main body portion 5 having a broad operation will definitely appear from the deinwardly projecting lioor flange 6 formed of 2o tailed description to follow, sheet metal. 10 are the plate glass sides and ends. The vertical edges of these plate glass sides are provided with metallic attaching flanges or frame pieces 11. These are folded upon themselves sharply at an angle of 450 at 111, forming a vertical mitre face 112. The edges are extended in parallel relation at 113 and 114- to embrace the ver `ical edge of the glass plate. In the outer plate there is formed a depression 115 conformed to the .fertical liange 941- of the corner post which is engaged by sliding the said corner post down into engagement, on the frame, as seen particularly in Fig. 3.
The vertical parts of the door frame 12 are similarly formed, being folded upon themselves at an appropriate angle at 121, forining the mitre surface 122 with extended groove parts 123, 12-1 and having the oblique engaging groove 125 for engagement by the flange 9a of the post. Door stop grooves 127 and 128 are formed on the extreme inner edge to receive the doors.
The doors are plate glass 13 provided with suitable sash 131 as seen particularly in Fig. 3.
lll is the glass top plate. This is disposed upon a cushion pad or gasket 141 upon the upper edges of the side plates 10, as seen in cross section in Fig. 5.
Ears 151 are spot welded or otherwise secured to the under liange of the frame 15 in proper position to receive screws 152 for attaching the same to the ears 95 on the sides of the posts.
The lower ends of the posts andthe corners of the frame are secured together by corner brackets 17, see Fig. 6, which have lateral arms 171 engaging the bottom rabbet of the end and corner at each side. These brackets 17 are secured in place by screw bolts 173 in the lateral arms and 174 in the upright. The screw bolts 1741 attach through perforations 92 in the vertical shanks 91 of the posts 9, thereby anchoring and securing all the parts together.
A simple modified form of the corner post appears in Fig. 9, which, of course, has not the advantage of the doubled edge. r)The doubled edge is of advantage in that it makes .the structure elastic for the purposes of assembling and provides a superior finish.
The usual finishing slabs 13 of marble or granite are retained in place by suitable screw bolts 131 inserted from the outside, the nuts being disposed within the channels, whereby a very strong attachment of the base finishing slab is secured by very inconspicuous means.
My improved structure can be very greatly modified in its details, as is evidenced by an inspection, without departing from my invention.
I believe the specific form possesses great merit and I desire to claim the specific form Leaaess and also to claim the invention broadly, as pointed out in the appended claims.
