Patented p Jan. 19,l 1932 UNITED STATES PATENT oFFlcE SAMUEL KUNSTADIEB., OF lHOIIFEIOOIL ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOB T THE FORMFIT COM- PANY, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS, A CORPORATION OF ILIIINOIS` BRASSIBE Application led July 17,
Y The invention relates to improvements in brassires, and has for its object the provision of an improved construction of this char- 'acter which is capable of economical production and highly eiiicient in use.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a construction of the character indicated having special reinforcing means incorporated therein.
Another object of the invention is theprovision of a construction of the character indicated having special cushioning means incorporated thereln.
Other objects will appear hereinafter.
The invention consists in the combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described andclaimed.
The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming apart of this specification, and in which Fi 1 is a front view of a brassire embodyint e invention; v ig. 2 a partial rear view of the front portion thereof; and
Fig. .3 an enlarged partial section taken on line 3 3 of Fig. 1.
The embodiment of the invention illustrated inthe drawings comprises two spaced supporter members, each formed of two pieces 10 and 11 of net material, joined together centrally b" a vertical reinforcing seam 12. Arrange across the lower ortion of each of the supporter bodies thus ormed is a reinforcing strip 13, preferably of plushlike material having a multitude of closely adjacent hairlike cushioning projections 14 on the inner surface thereof, as best indicated in Fig. 3. Each of said reinforcing strips 13, besides being stitched to the outer supporting body around its edges, is also stitched thereto by a plurality of substantially parallel lines of,stitches 15, which further secure and reinforce the lower portions of said supporter members. The supporter' members thus formed are joined together in spaced relation by a triangular piece of elastic webbin the outer upper portionof which is covere by a tucked or puckered protecting and reinforcing piece 17 as shown.
1931. Serial No. N 551,319.
The supporter members thus provided are equipped with suitable shoulder straps 17 of any usual or desired construction, connected at the back with a band 18 which is in turn connected with the supporter members 10-11, so as to be capable of use as a brassire'. The brassire thus provided will be found to be comfortable in wear and highly efficient in use.
The reinforcing strips 13 and stitches 15 give the supporter members sulicient strength and durability to perform their functions adequately and durably, and the nap or hairlike projections on said reinforcing strips afford a cushioning and Ventilating effect which add materially to the comfort ofl the wearer. The specific form and arrangement of parts is a simple and effective one for the purpose.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modication without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details disclosed, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as fall within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A brassire having a plurality of breastreceiving pockets each provided with an outer network body, each body having a reinforcing strip secured to the interior thereof across the lower portion, each strip having on its inner surface hair-like nap standing out from the base thereof for contacting and supporting engagement with the breasts.
2. A brassire'having a plurality of breastreceiving pockets each provided with an outer network body, each bodyhaving a reinforcing strip secured to the interior thereof across the lower portion by stitching, each strip having on its inner surface hair-like nap standing out from the base thereof for contacting and supporting engagement with the breasts.
3. A brassire having a plurality of breastreceiving ockets each rovided with an outer network ody, each ody having a rein- `forcing secured tothe interior thereof p the owerportionb stitc ,each strip aving on its inner hairnap standing out from .the base thereof for con- 5 touting and supporting engagement with .the b a connecting member for said pockets and said strips being secured to sald connecting member along diverging lines by portions of said stitchin 10 In witness whereo I have hereunto set my hand this 11th day of June, 1931.
