CHARLES L. imnsn, or SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA CABINET Application fi1ed1tlarch27, 1931. Serial No. 525,691.
My invention relates to improvements in toilet cabinets and the like wherein a cabinet box having compartmentsis provided with a compartment having members -mounted therein to engage andhold neckties or the like extended in zig-zag fashion within a relatively small area, and to receive articles of apparel of a related nature.
The primary object of my invention is to provide. an improved toilet cabinet.
Another object is to provide an improved cabinet having a compartment provided with means to engage and hold neckties in extended form within a relatively small area, and in a conveniently accessible position.
A further object is to provide an improved cabinet compartment having tie supporting and engaging membersto prevent crushing or creasing of neckties, and having means to receive and hold collars or other articles of a related use. I
A still further object is to provide an improved article of the character described which embodies improved features of structure and arrangement and which aifords increased efiiciency and utility. H
I accomplish these and other objects by means of the improved device disclosed in the drawings forming a part of the present application wherein like charactersof reference are used to designate similar parts throughout the. specification and drawings, and in which Fig. 1 is a front elevation of my improved cabinet, the door being removed; and 1 Fig. 2 is a vertical section taken upon the line 22 of Fig. 1 in the direction indicated.
Referring to the drawings, my invention comprises a back 1, side membersQ and top and bottom members 3 and 4 respectively defining a cabinet. A door 5 is hingedly connected to the cabinet to normally close the front of the cabinet, and'preferably a mirror 6 is mountedabove the top member 3 of the cabinet.
cabinet to divide the space within the cabinet into a plurality of compartments designated 9, 10, and 11, of various size and shapeto receive toilet articles, orthe like, of any desired nature.
' One ofsthe compartments, as 9,is provided with, a pair of necktie supporting members 12 mounted therein within the upper corners ofthe compartment. Thelmembers 12 may 'be'of any suitable; construction, cylindrical pins of substantial diameter and provided with slightly enlarged heads 13 being illustrated as :the preferred construction. The
members 12'are spaced slightly from thesides and top ofthe compartment so that a plurality .of;neckties 14c, or othersimilararticles, may-be .supportedover said members with the end portions of the ties depending along the sides of the compartment. r
A member 15 ismou-nted within the lower central portion of the compartment 9. under which member the middle portions .of the ties 14: may be extended to hold the ties in zigza-g fashion within the compartment. The member l5 prefera'bl-y consistsof a hollow pocket forming member of triangular form mounted with its apex downwardly disposed and the hollow member 15 is open to provide .ac-
cess to a pocket 16 adapted to receive collars the contents of the cabinet. Neckties .14 are einserted into the compartment by extending the middle portions of the ties under the apex of the member'15 and extending the ends of the ties over the pins-sothat the ends of the ties will be suspended along the sides of the compartment and the middle portions of the ties will extend in zig-zag fashion between the pins, thereby accommodating the full -.=length of the ties within a'compartment having relatively small dimensions. The ties" arethus held in extended positions-with the Partitions 7 and 8 are mounted within the end portions freely suspended along the sides .ofrthe compartment, thereby occupying but littlespace and guarding the ties against slightly spaced above the bottom Of'thB comapartment, and having its sides diverging upwardly toward the. members 12. The top of crushing or creasingr At thesame tiine theiilqq ing of a number of ties in proximate relation over the members 12 and 15. r g
The pocket 16 formed by the member 15, affords a convenient receptacle for collars or other apparel. The relatively wide open top of" the pocket afit'ords ready access to the pocket and permits collars 17 to be easily inserted or removed as desired, and at the same time affords an efficient means for preserving collars in a clean and uncrushed condition until required. I V 3 By incorporating the compartment 9,*with its tie engaging members 12 and pocket forming member 15, within a cabinet having compartments adapted to receive various toilet articles or the like, a simple and compact cabinet is obtained whereby ties, collars, and the like may be stored safely and eflicienttie supporting members mounted within the upper corners of the compartment to receive and support tie extended thereover with the ends depending adjacent to the sides of the compartment; and a hollow triangular member mounted within the lower portion of the compartment with its apex downwardly disposed and spaced slightly above the bottom of the compartment and the sides of said member diverging upwardly toward the tie supporting members" to engage the middle portions'of ties extended in zig-zag manner over said supporting members and under the triangularmember and thereby hold said ties extended within a compartment of relatively small area,rsaid hollow member forming a pocket within the compartment open at the top thereof to receive articles of apparel.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: V i 1 l; A cabinet comprising a compartment {having upper and lower corners; a pair of 7 tie supportingmembers mounted within the upper corners of the compartment to receive and support ties extended thereover with the 'ends depending adjacent to the sides of the compartment; and a triangular member mounted within the lower portion of the compartment with its apex downwardly disposed in spaced relation to the bottom of the compartment and with its sides diverging toward the tie supporting members to engage the middle portion ofthe ties and hold-the same extended in zig-zag form within a compartment of relatively small area;
2. A cabinet comprising a compartment having upper and lower corners; a pair of v tie supporting members mounted within the i I upper corners of the compartment to receive and'support ties extended thereover with the ends depending adjacent to the sides of'the compartment; and a hollow member mounted within the lower portion of the compartment to engage the middle portions of the ties and hold the same extended in zi-g zag form within a compartment of relatively small area,
said member forming a pocket within the compartment to receive articles of apparel.
