My invention relates to paste ejectors and is particularly adapted for use in ejecting tooth paste from collapsible tubes in its application to tooth brushes. Certain objects 3 of the invention are to provide a paste ejector con'lprising a. casing or container for a collapsible tube and means whereby the paste is squeezed from the tube through a discharge 'nozzle and onto a brush. Further objects are to provide rest and guide means whereby the brush is held and moved in proper posi tion with respect to the nozzle, together with means for retaining the several elements of the device in their normally closed positions,
and other details of construction as more fully hereinafter set forth.
With the above and other objects in view which will appear as the description procceds, the invention consists of the novel con 'struction, adaptation, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter described and claimed.- These objects are accomplished by devices illustrated in the accompanying drawings; wherein:
Figure 1 is a view in perspective showing the exterior of the device;
Fig. 2 is a view in vertical section taken substantially on a broken line 2, 2 of Fig.- 1;
Fig. 3 is an enlarged view in vertical section of the discharge end portion of the device; and Fig. 4. is a view in horizontal section taken substantially on a broken line 1, 4 of Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawings throughout which like reference numerals designate like parts, the numeral 5 indicates a. casing which may have a plurality of holes 6 in its rear portion whereby the casing may be fastened 4 to a wall or the like. The bottom 7 ofsaid casing may have flanges 8 projecting therefrom withholes 9 whereby the casing may be secured to a shelf or the like. i The casing 5 is provided with a door 10 hinged thereto and provided with springs 11 that are arranged to normally retain said door in a closed position. A discharge nozzle 12 projects from the bottom 7"of said casing and is provided with a rectangular orifice 13 with round corners so that the paste Serial No. 367,430.
will issue therefrom in the form of a ribbon as will be understood.
A swinging member 1 1 is hinged or other wise pivoted at 15 to the bottom 7 of the casing. Said member is provided with a shoulder 16 which serves as a closure for the orifice 13 and aspring 17 is arranged to retain said member with its shoulder in the closed position. The remote end of said member is provided with a lip 18 for reasons hereinafter specified.
Referring to Fig. 3, in the use of my device and assuming that dental cream is used, a tooth brush 27 is placed against the swinging member 14 with its outer end resting on the lip 18. Said member is slowly pushed from the full line to the dotted position with the tooth brush in one hand and with the other hand the key 23 is slightly turned at the same time. In moving from the full to the dotted position the bristles of the brush will pass directly under the orifice 13 of the nozzle 12 and a ribbon of cream will be spread on said bristles as shown at 28.
It will now be apparent that I have provided a convenient means for applying paste to a brush. This means is at hand so that V the paste is always available when needed and may be applied easily and quickly with- 1 out the necessity of getting out and opening a tube, closing and putting it away as has heretofore been done.
Having thusdescribed myinvention, it beingunderstood that 'minor changes may be resorted to in its construction without departing from its scope and spirit, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
In a paste ejector, the combination with a casing having a discharge nozzle and adapted to support and retain a collapsible tube container in dispensive communication with the discharge nozzle, of a swinging member for the nozzle end of the casing, a flat oilset shoulder portion for the swinging member which is so formed and ositioned as to have free sliding contact wit the discharge nozzle, said shoulder portion forming a closure for the nozzle when in its normal position, a lip portion for the lower end of the swinging member, the swinging member being supported hingedly on the casing so that when actuated by a brush in contact with the end lip of said member it is caused to swing in an are bringing the brush directly under the unclosed nozzle for receiving a charge of paste therefrom.
