Description

Nov. 24; 1931. A. E. McNA BB CARD HOLDER Filed Feb. 17, 1931 1 :1 CAL/CK? a wall 7.
Patented Nov. 24, 1931 UNITED STATES CARD HOLDER i Application filed February 17, 1931.
My invention relates to card holders, and more particularly to a holder adapted to be suspended from a hook or a nail.
One object of my invention is to provide a card holder of such form that the card may be suspended from a supporting member such as a nail or a hook, in various positions without the necessity of shifting the card in the holder. For example, in the case of an ice card which contains on its corners designations indicating respectively 25 lbs., lbs, 75 lbs, 100 lbs, the holder may readily be hung with either of these numbers upper- 'most, and furthermore, will serve to main tain the card in its proper shape and prevent warping and curling thereof.
Another object of my invention is to provide a card holder of generally simplified and improved form.
One form which my invention may take is shown in the accompanying drawing wherein Figure 1 is a face view of the holder with a card contained therein; Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional View of the structure of Fig. -1,
' showing the card suspended from a nail, and
Fig. 3 is a horizontal sectional View thereof.
The card is indicated by the numeral 4, and the holder by the numeral 5. The holder is shown as hung on a nail 6 that is driven into The holder 5 is shown as formed of wire bent to form triangles 8 with their bases outermost and their apices located adjacent to the center of the holder. The wire is bent to form angles 9 and 10 that extend radially from the center of the holder.
The holder may be formed of a single piece of wire bent to the form shown, and the ends of such piece of wire may be welded together at a suitable point as at 11, or such ends could be twisted. Welds may be formed at the points 12 to prevent spreading of the sides of the angles 9, particularly when such angle portions are hung on a nail to bring the numeral 50 or the numeral 100 uppermost. To bring the numerals 25 or 7 5 uppermost, the holder will be suspended by its angle portions 10. The angles 9 and 10 are all located offcenter, so that the center of gravity will be below the nail on which the holder is Serial N0. 516,355.
hung, thereby tending to prevent turning of the card from a desired position.
The bases 84; of the triangular portions are struck outwardly from the plane of the holder to more readily receive the corners of the card. The card need not be removed from the holder, but the housewife may simply hang up the holder each morning in the desired position.
I claim as my invention 1. A card holder comprising a wire-like member having end portions of triangular form, with their bases outermost, and an intermediate portion bent to form four angles symmetrically arranged about the center of the holder and each arranged to engage a nail or the like.
2. A card holder having an intermediate portion adapted to have hooked engagement with a nail or the like, and having radiallyextending portions adapted to engage oppositely-extending corners of a card.
3. A card holder having a plurality of nailengaging portions arranged around the center of the holder, and radially-extending portions for engaging corners of a. card.
4. A card holder comprising a wire having portions bent to form two triangles which have their bases at the outermost edges of the holder and other portions bent to form angles whose apices extend outwardly from the center of the holder and are adapted to have hooked engagement with nails or the like.
5. A card holder comprising a wire having portions bent to form two triangles which have their bases at the outermost edges of the holder and other portions bent to form angles whose apices extend outwardly from the center of the holder and are adapted to have hooked engagement with nails or the like, the apices of two of said angles merging with the apices of the said triangles.
6. A card holder comprising a wire having portions bent to form two triangles which have their bases at the outermost edges of the holder and other portions bent to form angles whose apices extend outwardly from the center of the holder and are adapted to have hooked engagement with nails or the like, the apices of two of said angles merging AT T F ICE;
with the apices of the said triangles, and the apices of two other angles being located on a line that extends perpendicular to a line that bisects the said triangles.
7. A card holder comprising a wire-like member having radiallvextending portions bent to engage with the edges of a card, and having means adjacent to its central portion for engaging a nail or the like at various rotative positions of the card.
In testimony whereof I, the said ARTHUR E. MCNABB, have hereunto set my hand.
