Thispresent invention relates to new and useful improvements in a building insulator and has for its primary object the provision of an improved and simple form-of insulator which may be used in the wall, floor or roof structure of a building to insulate the sa me by forming air pockets therein.
Another object of the invention resides in the provision of a simple form of insulator which is produced in a single blankwithout waste of material andwhich is readily folded to compact form and positioned between parallel members of the building structure with blank secured on the outer face of two of said parallel members.
A further object of the invention resides in the provision of a building insulator of the single rectangular blank without waste of material and scored ormarked to indicate the manner of folding the blank for positioning the same in the frame work of the building structure for forming 'dead air or vacuum pockets therein while the longitudinal edges of the blank are secured on the face-of the frame member, outside of the pockets.
A still further object of the invention resides in the provision of a building insulator of the character stated which. is constructed from a blank without waste of materialand is out and scored in such a manner that it will be noted that the blank t; is of elongated form and has a right. angle cut 7 at. each coris snugly engaged in the spaces between the frame members of the building structure with the longitudinal strips at the sides of the blank engaging the edges of the frame members while the transversestrips at the ends of the blank are folded in the'spaces with their extended free extremities turned at a right angle and resting in the dead air or vacuum pocket formed by the insulator.

As the construction of the device has thus been described in detail, brief reference is had to its use and modus operandi: The

WVhen used in a floor structure, the insulator is positioned longitudinally between two of the joists and will extend the length as well as the width of the space therebetween with the out-turned ortions of the side members 9 of similarly positionedbetween adjacent studs and secured thereto in a; like manner. Likewise. when the insulator is employed in a roof structure, it is applied between adjacent rafters and secured in position in the manner corresponding to that specifically set forth for incorporating the insulator in a floor structure. r
