A person can do the bending fairly easily and accurately by placing the deviceon a'boX or board so that the line of the indentation 5 is directly over the edge of the box or board and pressing or striking the forward end of the folds downward until it is bent to a right angle with thejin'dentationf5 becoming the inner corner of the right angle. Then the device is held across the top of a drawer asshown by the perspective at the forward end of the drawer 25 of'Figure 2 and a mark is made on the body A at the edge adjacent to the drawer and on the side of the body that.

The body is then bent to a right angle along this indentation in a manner similar to the manner in which the body A was bent along indentation 5, this second indentation becoming the inside corner 24 of the right angle bend. The device is then positioned in the drawer 25 as shown in the perspective at the rear of the drawer in Figure '2 and the free end of the cleat B is bent 'atline 21"until the circular edge of the hole 22 lies parallel with the bottom of the drawer. Then the device is fixed in the desired posit-ion by tacks or nails driven through holes 6 and 7, 8 and .14, 11 and 17, the holes 11 and 17 being the holesnearest the corner 24 through which tacks or nails can conveniently be driven into the drawer 25, and through hole 22. i
The device can be'made with the forwardend of the body A'bent to a right angle along the line of indentation 5 instead of simply indented. The advantage of its being simply indented is that it is] easier and more economicalto handle and ship... Also, the article can be manufactured with a series ofindentations at the rear end of the body A, to simplify the bendinglnecessary to fitting the device in a drawer; inwhich case the person installing the device would not need to useatooli28 to indent the body A. None of such indentacan be connected to the body when the de-' vice'is made. 'The cleat or cleats hold the installed device morefirmly in position than y it would beheld without a cleat. In caseithicker sheet metal is used in mak ing the device, the body A can be a fiatpiece of sheet metal having no folds at'the edges, but having, instead, reenforcing strips afiixed thereto by welding or'other'means, and having an indentation 5 at the forward end of-the body A and a series of indentations at therear endof said body, series of holes 8 to 13,'inelusive, and 14 to 19, inclusive, cleat equivalent to cleat B- welded or riveted to the body A. The indentations ca-n be made either by a blow or pressure of a'tool or by removingsome of the metal along the line of indentation by machining orother' means.
The device made of the heavier sheet metal can be installedin a drawer by the method described in the preceding paragraph. In
stead of the cleat or cleats B being weldedor riveted to the body,it or theycanbe movably connected to the body in such amanner that it or theycan be fastened to thedrawer at any one ofa number of locations.
Folds such as shown in thedrawing, reenforcing strips, or other reenforcingmeans, may be on one side only of the device or on both sides. Reenforcing formationscan be employed which extend from one side to'the other, such, for instance, as a curl at .-tlre edges.- When the device has the reenforoing means on one side only the indentations fcan be made either on .thatside or on the other side, andv the device bent either .so that the reenforcing means are on the. inside of the bend or on'the outsidegbut usually thebetter results appear to follo-wvvhen the bend is made with the reenforcing means on the outmade either at thereenforcing means only or in the entire Width of the device; satisfactory results .follow both methods, the bend being sharper, however, along its lentir'e length when'the indentation isin the entire width. V
