BILL FOLD V Filed .June 24, 1929 l JA l 2 l' :U 2
l l l l l l INVENTOR Georg e z/O'z' BY y 1ML; ATTORNEY Patented Nov. 3, 1931 UNITED STATES GEORGE VOLTZ, OF ROCHESTER, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO BASTIAN BROTHERS, COM- PATENT-OFFICE IPANY, OF ROCHESTER, NEW YORK, AOORPORATION 0F NEW YORK BILL FOLD `Applieatirm filed June 24, 1929. Serial No. 373,075.
TheV present invention relates to bill folds and an object thereof is to provide a construction having a pocket which will not be apparent upon a casual inspection of the bill fold and can serve to conceal money, papers, or the like from persons unfamiliar with its construction.
To this and other ends, the invention consists of certain parts and combinations of parts all of which will be hereinafter described: the novel features being pointed ou't in the appended claims.
In the drawings:
Fig. l is a view of the inner facelof the bill a foldV in open position;
of the bill fold, this layer being foldable' preferably along one side of a transverse median line. In this instance, on one side of this median line is arranged a short layer or wall 2 which is stitched or otherwise secured at three edges at 3, its fourth edge being free. Between the layers l and 2 is an intermediate wall 4 held by the stitches 3 and extending to the free edge of the wall 2. A second intermediate wall 5 is preferably also secured by the stitchings 3 between the wall or layer 4I and the wall or layer l. This walll 5 has its free edge below or spaced from the free edge of the wall 4 so that its upper or free edge will be hidden. It will thus bevseen that the three walls 2, 4 and 5 form three pockets 6, 7, and 8 on one side of the wall l, the upper ends of the pockets 7 and 8 merging into one chamber at their upper ends.
With the purpose in view of closing the pocket 6, the wall 4 carries an extension iap formed, in. this instance, of a liner portion 9 in one piece with the wall 4 and a finishing layer l0 of kheavier material, such as leather.
Vith the end in view of still further hiding the pocket 7 another flap extension l1 is carried by the wall or layer 4 and projects rearwardly from said wall and into the pocket 8 over the upper edge of the wall 4. This flap has thetendency to create the impression that it forms the inner face of the wall 4, and also to the fact that the pocket 8 is open to access. In this instance, the flap or extension 1l is in one piece with the outer` layer 10 of the flap which closes the pocket 6.
A snap fastener 12 may secure the outer flap to the wall 2.
From the foregoing it will be seen that there has been provided a bill fold in which threev pockets are arranged one behind another, the wall separating the second pocket from the first or outer, carrying two iiaps projecting from opposite sides thereof and acting as closuresl for the first and second pockets, the flap closing the second pocket serving to hide or conceal the second pocket and to concentrate the observers attention on the third pocket.
What I claim as my invention and desire y to secure by Letters Patent is:
l. A bill fold comprising three pockets arand extending into the third pocket, the two Lf flaps having a common layer which is the outer layer of the fiap closing the first pocket. 3. A bill fold comprising three pockets arf rangedv one behind the other vand having two walls separating them, and two flaps carried by the Wall separating the first from the second pocket, one of said flaps closing the rst pocket and the other closing the second pocket and extending into the third pocket, the two aps having a, common` layer which is the outer layer of the flap closing the first pocket, and the Wall carrying the two flaps being formed in one piece Wlth a portion forming the inner layer of the flap closing the outer or first pocket.
