Description

H. S. POMEROY.
SASH-PULLEYS.
Patented. Oct. 10,1876.
JAMES aoscooo & co BOSTQN UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICE.
HIRAM s. POMEROY, OF NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT.
IMPROVEMENT IN SASH-PULLEYS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 183,020, dated October 10, 1876 application filed August 12, 1576.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HIRAM S. POMEROY, of the city and county of New Haven, and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Sash-Pulleys; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use it, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this specification.
My invention relates to sash-pulleys; and consists in a novel device for oiling the pivots of the pulley without removal, which is hereinafter more fully set forth and definitely claimed.
Figure l is a view of the front or face plate of the case and of the projecting portion of the pulley. Fig. 2 is a View of that portion of the case which is inserted in the window-frame.
The pulley-casc is made in three partsthe face-plate A, and-the two flanges m m. The face-plate has the usual slot in the central part, and the usual screw-holes near its ends. It has projections 01. a, to which the flanges m m are attached. From the central part of the upper end of the face-plate a groove, 0, running each side of the screw-hole extends down the face-plate and over the projection a. A hole or notch, 0, through the face-plate connects with the groove, as shown in the drawing. The flanges m m are made in the usual form, and have the ordinary pivot-holes, the upper parts inclosing the pulley. A projection or guiding-rib, b, on each of the flanges extends upward from the pivot-hole to and under the groove 0 made in the face-plate, as shown in the drawing. The pulley has its face grooved and is cast in one piece with pivots.
The pulley being thus constructed, the oil inserted through the hole 0 runs down the groove 0 onto the rib b, and down the same to the pivots of the pulley.
I claim as my invention A sash-pulley whose face-plate A is provided with the groove 0 and notch c, and whose flanges are provided with the guidingribs 11 b, substantially as described and shown, for the purpose set forth.
HIRAM STERLING POMEROY.
