devise articles of the general -character specified which are simple in construction, which may be-readily l.and conveniently fabricated and assembled, and which are neatandfat- Y. ftractive in appearance, ly convenient and satisfactory 1n use.
present invention,
as well as beinghighobjects and advantages ofthe devicesof the fied in the following illustrative embodiment i ofthe same, will readily occur to those. skilled in the art to which the present invention relates. y
In the accompanyingspecification we shall Y lustrativeembodiment of the present invenhave more or fied the aforesaid illustrative embodiment of tion.V Itis, however,fto' be clearly understoodthat our invention is not limited to the specific embodiment thereof herein shown and described for purposes of illustration only.`

.Fig.3 isa-plan view .of lthe connecting Or hinge post which maybe used hingedly to.` `sconnect successive tubular segments; Fig. .L'is a plan view of'a combined'tubular f segment and hinge post in 'accordance withl Y#the principles ofthe presentA invention een;
illustrativeembodiment of the present inven V Other particularly asV exemplidiameter, being usuallya relatively small fraction fof an inchand is usually made of describe, and in the annexed drawings more .or-'less diagrammatically'exemplify, an 1lw1se, vary 'within desired.'A limits, it beingl 'sufliicien't merely thatithave suiiicient size to permit the reception of ahinge post or the i930. serial 110.433,24?.
Fig. 6 is planyiew ofcomplete bracelet; and l Fig. 7 is aview similar to Fig. 6 showing ythe' bracelet" of the present invention as applied to a wristwatch.
. Referring now to the aforesaid illustrativel embodiment ofthe present invention, and
withparticu'lar reference to the'v drawings illustrating the same, l0 in Fig. l of thedrawyings indicates a tubular member from which the tubulari'segments constituting the' links of theaforesaid illustrative embodiment of .the present invention may vreadily be cut.
The t'ubularmember 10 may be of any desired precious metal, althougliit may bemade of any `desired `material- Its lbore may likelike of suiciient strength to serve satisfactorily its purpose o fhingedly connecting suc- Y 'ce'ssve tubular segments made in the manner Referring tothedrawings, in which we less diagrammatically eKempl1- now to be described.
making the Vtubular segments Ain Vaccordance with the principles of thev present stated'that the tubular member 10 may, be-
fore being cutinto the segments 20 more Vclearlyillustrated in Fig. 2 of the drawings,
.be givena slightfcurvature of the jig o r die which.holdslthetubular member l0 for the cutting or severing-operation. Accordingly, ifthe tubular member 1Q is initially round or is forced into such a slight curvilinear form, each ofthel tubular segments 20-will have a slight curvilinear form; The purpose of this isto predispose the members 20 assembled in the final braceletillustrated in '"Figy is a plan `view of a series or succession of tubularA segments and associated hinge Fig. 6 of 'thedrawings towards a curvature around the? wrist which the final bracelet is member-S120 will naturally .assume agcurvilinear vposition around the wrist of the wearer the cuts 11 are V-shaped. It may Vhere be a member which may be in the form Of im" oblong or elongated member generally designated by reference character 30,`the cross dimension of which is preferably of such size as to enable the piece 30 toiit snugly into the tubular link members 20. As 4 clearly shclwn in Fig. 4 ci the drawings, thc member 30 may be soldered along its edges 32 and 33 vto the inner wall of the tubular member 2O so as to be securely and rigidly held therein at its end. The other end 35 of the post 30 is intended. tc bc hingedly secured by a suitable pin or rivet 4() which will pass through the Opening 36 in the hinge post 30.
As shown in F ig. 5 of the drawings, where we have shown an assemblage of tubular link members and their associated posts, the hinge post 30 rigidly connected to one of the tubular link members 20, is hingedly connected t0 the succeeding hinge member Q0 by the pin or A rivet 40 which passes through and issoldered cr otherwise ixcclly secured in the adjacent end of the adjoining tubular link member 20 'and is freely rotatable in the opening 36 at the other end of the hinge post 30, It is, of
course, to be clearly understood that the angle of tolerance or Qf movement; of the tubular link members 2O with respect to each other is limited by the V-.shapedcut at ODG end and the i/-shaped projeCtiQIl at the other end of each of the tubular link members 2Q. 1t is also to be recalled that due to the slight curvature which is preferably given'each of the: tubular link members 20, the assembled articulated structure is biased towards a curvature aroundthe wrist or other member to which the structure is to be applied and against a Vcurvature in the opposite direction. The tubular link members, assembled in the manner shown in Figs. 4 and 5 of the" A drawings, may be assembled in the form of the complete bracelet shown in Fig. 6 of the drawings where the bracelet has been generally designated by reference character and the watch which it holds by the reference character GO. It will be noted that the bracelet 50 is made up of twu link structures 5l and 52, each being of the articulated construction described in v`detail above, on one side of the connecting member 5,3 and of two` other such articulated link structures `54: and 55 on the other side of the connecting member 53, 5G indicating the means. for ccmicctng A the bracelet 50 to one side 0f the watch 60 Y The device possesses the necessary mechaniand 57 indicating the means for connecting the bracelet 50 to the other side of the watch 60.
This completes the description of the aforesaid illustrative embodiment of the present .m
invention. Itfwill be noted that the construction is simple and the devices made in accordance therewith may be readily and economically fabricated and, assembled.
cal strength and flexibility in use and is furthermcrc very neat and attractive in appearance.
'Other supe'rioritics and advantages of the devices of the resent invention, particularly as exemplifiedJ in the aforesaidT illustrative embodiment of the same, will readily occur to those skilled in the art to Which the 'present invention relates. i
It may here be stated that the tubularfgf;
sections may be straight instead of curved and that they may be made in half or other fractional tubular sections instead of from unitary tubular sections. It may here further be stated thatinstead of soldering onepgo end of each pin o r hinge post Within one of the tubular sections, the hinge posts may be attached by swaging or other suitable metal working operation.
It may here also be stated that the original'74A `#95 tubular member from which the tubular link segments are cut may initially be straight but Vthat the tubular link segments may themselves be given a slight curvilinear conformation by being placed in a curvilinearl jig dur-C 10c ing the operation of attaching the hinge osts, 'i f What we claim as our invention is: l, An articulated structure of the general character specified, comprising a plurality 01""105 hingedly associated links each comprising a substantially tubular member having a substantially V-shaped conformation at one of its ends.l
2, An articulated structure of the general" character specified, comprising a plurality of hingedly associated links each comprising a lsubstantially tubular member havinga substantially V-shaped conformation at each of its ends. l 3. An articulated structure `of the-general character specified, comprising a plurality of hingedly associated links, each link comprising a tubular member having a substantially,
V-shaped conformation at each of its ends, l
the Vs at the ends ofsaid links being substantially parallel te reach other, and a series 0f hinged pests one end of each ci whchs fixedly secured and the other end of each of which is hingedly secured in the. correspcnding end cf the adjacent link..
4. All articulated structure. of thegeneral character specied, com rising a plurality of hingedly associated linli) s each comprising a substantially tubular member having a subwhich is ixedly secured and the other end ofeach of Which is hingedly secured in the corresponding end of the adjacent link, each of said tubular bodies being slightly curved along a substantially circular arc in substantially the same direction and to substantially the same degree.
In testimony whereof, We have signed our names to this specicat-ion this 3rd day of March, 1930.
I-IYMAN SEIDMAN. HENRY COI-IAN.
