This invention relates to improvements in a bracelet clasp for ornamental use; especially bracelets to be worn upon the wrist as an article of jewelry.

The opposite endof the link 3 will be open asshown at 14 and the sides thereof mayalso' be'recessed as shown at 11, and the two parts of the link 4 will enter the open end ofthe link 3 and be united thereto by pivot pins 15 which may be eyelet rivets. These rivets may receive in their outer ends, knobs 16 preferably held in place by solder to add to the ornamental appearance of the bracelet.
At their opposite ends, the two parts of the link 4 will be pivotally united to the .link 5 by means of pin 2. This link 5 comprises sides 17 and a top and bottom 18, and the sides 17 are extended somewhat and rounded as indicated at 19 where they are united to the link 4. At the opposite end, the top of this link may be extended and bent to form a tubular bearing 20 so that it can be joined by a pivot pin 2' to the adjacent link 1, the bearing 20 being received between the rounded ends 10 of the sides of this link 1.
All of the links 1, 3 and 5 may be curved somewhat and when the links 3, 4 and 5 are to be folded'into one another to shorten the bracelet, the two parts of the link 4 are first caused to enter the link3 and be housed thereby; passing into this link through the open bottom. Then the tubular link 5 follows and both links 4 and 5 .are completely enveloped by the link 3; one endof the link 5 then projecting from the open end 14 of the link 3 and being there attached to the adjacent link 1. The bracelet then has the form of-acomplete loop encircling the wrist snugly instead of having two ends to be joined by a catch and can be removed by enlarging it merely by taking hold of the two small knobs 16 and pulling upward to get the links 3. 4 and 5 in a position to be distended as indicated on Fig. 3. The curvature of the link 3 is such that the outer surface of the bottom of this trough-shaped link, that is, the part or surfacewhich will be uppermost and exposed when the bracelet is worn, is convex.
The construction is thus quite simple,'while at the same time the parts are securely united and there is no liability of the bracelet getting out of order. 7
I claim V 1. A clasp for a'bracelet comprising a plurality of links pivotally connected together, one of said links having the form of an inverted trough with one end closed and a bearing at said end for a pivot pin to enable it to be connected to one end of the bracelet, the other end of said trough shaped link being open, another of said extensible links having the form of a pair of strips which enter the open end of the trough shaped link and are pivotally united thereto, and a third extensible link having the form of a rectangular tube, the end of which is received between the two strips of the second-named extensible link and is pinned thereto, the opp0- site end of the tube shaped link being pinned to the opposite end of the bracelet, the extensible links being adapted to be folded together so that the strips of the second link are received into the trough shaped link along the sides thereof and the tube shaped link is housedin said trough between the strips of the second named link, the trough shaped link having knobs adjacent its open end to enable the trough shaped link to be pulled preparatory to distending the links and enlarging the bracelet.
2. In a clasp for a bracelet, consisting of connected links adapted to be extended to enlarge a bracelet, one of the links comprising a housing having spaced parallel side members, a second link in the form of a rectangular tube, two parallel oppositely disposed strip members, pivots connecting the strip members at one end with one end of the corresponding side members and at the inside faces thereof, a pin passing through the opposite ends of the strip members with one end of the tube fitted between the strip members, and knobs associated with said pivots, extending laterally beyond the side members and adapted to be grasped in operating the connecting links.
In a clasp for bracelet, a box-like link having a protruding bearing connection at one end with the bracelet,.a pair of parallel oppositely disposed strip members embracing at one end the opposite end of the box-like link and pinned thereto for pivotal movement, a housing including parallel oppositely disposed side members having seats in the end edges thereof, an individual pivot 9 connecting theopposite end of each of the strip members with the corresponding side member adjacent the end edge seat thereof, thereby leaving between the strip members an unobstructed space, said strip members being foldable in the housing between the side members and said box-like link being foldable between the strip members to occupy said unobstructed space and permit said bearing connection to be received in said end edge seats.
