Patented Oct. 3, 1876.
FFIC.
JOHN H. ADAMSON, OF CLIFTON, NEW JERSEY.
IMPROVEMENT IN TOY-CARRIERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 182,788, dated October 3, 1876; application filed September 9, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN H. Anmnson, of Clifton, in the county of Passaic and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Toy-Oarrier, of which the following is a specification:
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a side elevation, and Fig.2 an end View, of my improved toy-carrier.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of this invention is to provide an improved carrier for toy acrobats performing on the tightrope; and the invention consists of a weighted carrier running by a pulley over a tight-rope, and being provided above the pulley and rope with a suitable spring clamping device, to which the toy figures are attached.
In the drawing, A represents a carrier of suitable material that runs by a pulley, B, on the rope stretched in horizontal or inclined position. The carrier A is provided below the pulley B with a weight, 0, by which the carrier is held in vertical position when traversing to and fro on the rope. The carrier or weighthas a small ring, a, applied to any suitable point for attaching a string th ereto, whereby the carrier may be pulled in either or both directions, so as to traverse the tightrope from one end to the other. The carrierframe is extended above the pulley, and provided with any suitable clamping device to which the jointed acrobats, or any other figures or articles, may be readily attached or detached for being moved over the rope. Themade to walk on the rope in a number of different positions, and thereby the toy be made more entertaining and amusing, the carrier serving to support the difierent figures in their performances on the tight-rope. By taking off the weight and reversing the carrier, the figures may be attached and suspended below the tightrope.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. A weighted and traversing carrier for toy figures and other articles, provided with a clamping device at the upper end, substantially in the manner described, and for the purpose specified.
2. A traversing carrier for toy figures, provided with a clamping device for supporting said figures, substantially as herein shown and described.
